Jul 8, 2008 Updated: Jul 9, 2008[Old rating from 2006 PDX Holiday Ale Festival] Tap... Copper with a white head. Strong hop bitterness and a high alcohol presence. I think it being aged in the bourbon barrels accentuates this. Other sweet flavors like caramel and oak.

Mar 14, 2007 Ba bam!! Huge rum nose and flavor made this one of the heavier hitters at the 2006 Portland Holiday Ale Festival. Opening up on the boozed-out side but developing into a deep creamy/nog finish was this giant. Very ingredient laden and unexampled as far as genres go.

Dec 3, 2006 Holiday Ale Festival. This beer was incredible. I really hope rum barrels show up more in the barrel aging fad, cause the flavor is much better then bourbon in my opinion. I’m a big dark rum fan, so the sweetness that the barrels gave just really blew my mind on this beer. The homoerectus is just such a damn good brew to begin with and the rum sweetness just added a great warmth to this.
