2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 TheRealMGD (356) - Lakewood, Washington, USA - DEC 24, 2011
Tap @ Parkway. Hazy orange-gold pour with a short white head leaving moderate lace. Nose is primarily malty, which I didn’t expect. Medium-heavy body and light carbonation - maybe a problem with this barrel? Medium-roast malt, toast, lots of unpleasant ethanol bitterness and some grapefruit. Finish is long and bitter - some hops but primarily EtOH again. I need to go to the brewery and try this as it did not taste like what I recall from last year. Will update my rating when I do.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 cmonster (608) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 1, 2011
Growler served in a tulip. Deep amber-brown in color, syrupy dense looking body, with a large, fluffy orange-white head. Great retention and lacing. Bomb. Aroma is fruity orange citrus, pine, toffee, earth, and caramel. Full-medium body. Sweet attack, followed by a hit of carbonation, a creamy texture, rolling layers of robust hops with heavy malt undertones, and a piney bitter finish. Excellent brew.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 savnac (1362) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - JUN 24, 2011
On tap @ Henry’s Tavern, Portland. Hazy amber/copper with a beige head. Aroma is light biscuit and caramel with faint citrus and pine. Flavor is lots of sweet malt and lots of bitterness, alcohol pretty well hidden. Medium body with mild carbonation and a sugary mouth feel. I think this could have been a bit old but still decent.

Jeepers! I can’t recall how many times I’ve had this ale and didn’t rate it! "For shame, doc! Shootin’ rabbit’s wit’ an elephant gun!". Colour... cloudy yellow-gold with a fairly thick head. Nose... imagine a cross between orchard fruits and hop cones and there you have it! Palate... lemon compote, peach cobbler and apricot Turkish Delight followed by a massive wave of sweetly-dry pineapple rind and sugar sirop. Yum, yum!
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Hophazard (193) - San Francisco, California, USA - FEB 28, 2011
Orange notes rise from the glass with faint lemon peel. Clear copper pour with thin slightly off white head. Caramel malts start but are nicely blended with citrus hop flavor. Bitterness is very smooth. Hardly any alcohol to be found. Medium heavy body. Good DIPA - the sweetness up front is cleaned up pleasently by the bitterness.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 mcberko (2188) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 3, 2010
On tap at TCBF, pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma and flavour of strong piney hops, dried fruits (apricot, orange and peach), with a strong hop punch in the finish. Most wonderful.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Nalu (216) - Washington, USA - SEP 14, 2010
Tap @ Brouwer’s Cafe. Clear amber pour with a minimal white head leaving a heavy lace. Fruity/flowery/grassy nose leading into a hoppy middle balanced between bitter and flavor, all supported by a heavy body. The malt is well-integrated and tastes of honey, cocoa and possibly apple - couldn’t quite place all the elements but they were very welcome! Very impressed with my first WM, a visit to their pub is a must!

Tasted on tap at Walking Man. A great imperial IPA. Not overpowering in the hops or alcohol taste. Just a splendid mix of bittering and flavoring hops.
