NoiZe (1289), Mooi Zeist, Netherlands Aug 12, 2008 Tasted @ the Belmont Station in Portland
Red/amber colored brew. Spicy, hoppy and crisp. Sweet caramel malts and fruity, floral hoppy flavor. I like it! stchloe (477), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 7, 2008 Superb hop profile, bitter and whole in the body and mouth. Very alcoholic too. BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Jul 30, 2008 A very crisp and spicy IPA. Sampled at the Horse Brass in Portland. Very hoppy and unique. On draft! AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Jul 27, 2008 Hazy amber with a tight head. Picked up some piney hop aromas, really too smoky here at The Horse Brass to fully savor the smell. Smooth soft carbonation. Taste is sweet caramel malts highlighting a great pine sap and floral hop show. I wish they’d bottle this brew. Classic NW style iipa. stetzel (22), portland, Oregon, USA Apr 16, 2008 good amber color, small white head.very sharp hop aroma.piney, citrus, with a slight alcohol sweetness.this bad boy is a sipper, not a chugger.so enjoy. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA Nov 11, 2007 Sampled a pint of this one on draught at the brewpub in Stevenson, WA. This beer pours to a hazy, light amber color, with a slight, white head, and a soft carbonation. The nose on this beer is very fragrant with that PNW signature piney/critus hop aroma, paried with peppery hints of alcohol. The palate is lean, for such a high octane beer, with some pale and sweet malt flavor, paired with hop flavors of candied grapefruit. This beer finishes with more pale and sweet malt, and flavors of citrus hops, then ends with a big punch of citrus/piney hop bitterness, and some warming alcohol. A real hop cocktail of a brew, this beer makes an excellent night cap, and a great beer to sip and relax with at the bar. Dangerously drinkable for such a high strength beer, be careful with this one. beerbrat99 (119), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 29, 2007 Slightly hazy copper color. Intense aroma of pine, lemon, and grapefruit. Little to no head retention. Bitterness upfront with a slight medicinal quality. Some carastan malts in the middle.
Finishes dry and on the hot side. A tongue scraper! JoeM500 (1876), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA Oct 3, 2007 Pint, on tap at henry’s in Portland. Chosen to drink alongside my entree of kaffir lime and mango cream sauce smothered scallops. Bo head as it was delivered to the table, sort of a still-looking dark amber. Nose was mostly piney, grassy, slight notes of alcohol. First sip, I was a bit disappointed in the overall thinness of the body. This is because it is listed as an Imperial IPA and I knew the alcohol content was hovering around 10%. I shouldn’t read the description beforehand, as i would be telling you what a great IPA this is. It was especially hoppy throughout and offered just a slight caramel malt sweetness in the middle. Piney and dry alcoholic aftertaste was really nice and well suited for wiping the sweet mango cream from my palate. A bit higher gravity or maybe just a bit more malt shining through and this would be a highly sought after treat!
