decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Jul 5, 2006 A nice amber pour with a slightly off aroma from a growler. A good flavor of hops and light malt. A slightly weak palate. Overall a well balanced beer. Thanks to Goldtwins at kp’s Cellar Party. goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA Jul 4, 2006 Growler from DubberCody. There was a mild skunk aroma that dissipated in a few minutes and with swirling. Poured a clear amber color with a medium sized off-white head. The aroma and flavor were fruity and citrusy. Some pine in the flavor as well. Long moderately sized bitterness with a semi-dry finish. SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Jul 4, 2006 Thanks to Goldtwins for sharing this growler at kp’s Cellar Party.
Pours clear amber with a three dimensional, dextrinous head of white.
Good fragrant hop nose and the palate was dry overall and the malt and hop flavors were very well balanced. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Jun 28, 2006 Clear, pale orange appearance, huge frothy creamy-toned head...leaving loads of lace...
Piney, citric aroma, bittersweet, fresh and delighfully hoppy.
Zesty in the mouth, flush with fruit, creamy and delicious. Fine and mellow hop attack, blasts the tongue, but smoothly. Very smoothly, but then the flavor gets stronger, fuller, more prominent on the palate. Grapefruit grinds it up with berries, lemon, orange, mixed well with bitter hops.
Medium bodied, fullish mouthfeel, long finish, fruity and bitter and ever so delicious. yum, and...9%? Wooo, here it comes...burns brighter, gets bolder, smacks the senses about a bit. Yums, yums...
lipsmacking bitter hoppiness, easy-drinking, but higher booziness...makes one big, bad, beautiful brew!
after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Jun 24, 2006 Draft at the Barking Dog. Hazy orange color, rocky dirty-white head. Bright flashes of mango, tangerine, grapefruit, and general citric goodness throughout the nose, attack, mid-palate, finish. Surpisingly mild bitterness--you could serve this to almost anyone. Well, lots of people, anyway. Try that with any other DIPA/IIPA. And it’s still complex and interesting enough to be repetitively delicious. Bubbly but not raw mouthfeel; drinkable and full-bodied without being soupy. This is a level-headed common-sense IIPA that you *and* your grandmother can love. presario (2953), Calgary, Alberta, Canada May 28, 2006 Yummy and the last beer to be rated this night. Dark red amber with a lasting head. Has the alcohol, the flavour and the body. My favorite of those tried at the brewpub. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Mar 26, 2006 6th annual Bistro IIPA fest. Sour aroma with no hops; odd for a IIPA to not have hops in the nose. Smells like a Capital brew. Beautiful, reddish brown. Hazy body, off-white head. Very nice lace. Initial mouthfeel has off notes. Really don’t like this brew. Malty with a bite and off flavors. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Feb 24, 2006 Tasted at the 2006 Bistro 2xIPA festival. Deep orange color. Medium sized head. Aroma is slightly floral and citrusy. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet with a touch of caramel. Hops are grapefruity and piney. Soft carbonation. Medium bitter IPA. Nicely balanced. Hides the alcohol well. This is a very drinkable IPA. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter
