This beer pours to a hazy, light amber color, with a slight, white head, and a soft carbonation. The nose on this beer is very fragrant with that PNW signature piney/critus hop aroma, paried with peppery hints of alcohol. The palate is lean, for such a high octane beer, with some pale and sweet malt flavor, paired with hop flavors of candied grapefruit. This beer finishes with more pale and sweet malt, and flavors of citrus hops, then ends with a big punch of citrus/piney hop bitterness, and some warming alcohol. A real hop cocktail of a brew, this beer makes an excellent night cap, and a great beer to sip and relax with at the bar. Dangerously drinkable for such a high strength beer, be careful with this one. troopie (868), USA

Fruity aroma with hoppiness. Full mouth with malt and hops. Caramel. Alcohol warmth without being overbearing. Nice hoppy finish that lasts. Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA

I think it is at the zenith of what a quality imperial IPA should be. Deep and chewy hoppy flavor that develops as it ages. I compare all others to this one! beerhoundMKE (1), portland, Oregon, USA does not count | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 11, 2007 I’ve had it on draft various places around Portland, but this sample was from their very enjoyable brewpub with a great patio in Stevenson, WA. This is the most approachable and drinkable imperial IPA I’ve ever had. The aroma has hints of subdued caramel and anise with bright sun baked hay. It has an swirling golden amber-auburn color with a thin docile cloud of activity to it, almost like iced sun tea. The even hopping imparts a strong, crisp wall of flavor hiding any alcohol bite that might hint to is notable strength. Neither sweet or overly bitter in any way. The malt characteristics lend a bright, active depth. There is a wide crisp finish that dissipates evenly, inviting another drink. In the over-saturated IPA market of the pacific northwest, this beer stands out as a leader. Very refreshing jimbowood (951), Athens, Georgia, USA

Great high test beer, it’s a perfercly executed imperial ipa without being over the top. Full to medium body, very satisfying. Find it and try it. Go get yourself a homo or two. SuzyGreenberg (1337), Seattle, Washington, USA
