alwayshalffull (3), longview, Washington, USA does not count Oct 6, 2006 this is my favorite ipa
but i have only had it at their brewery
slightly sweet mostly bitter an excellent
hop finish Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jul 21, 2007 Beautiful slightly hazy golden-amber. Deep, intense hop fruits (mango, orange, kumquat, wood) with some of the freshest pale malts to come through the nose of a hoppy beer. A feat even by PNW standards. Gorgeous....large bitterness from hops that flirt with florals and citrus before settling on woody. Clean, fresh-tasting, pale malts. Bracingly hoppy dry finish with that little bit of resininess to make sure you know you’re drinking a properly-hopped IPA. Pigfoot (2225), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Dec 21, 2004 I pour from growler to glass and the brew is cast in an appealing ripe peach shade, slightly hazy, with a good thickcap of creamy white foam atop. Looking good so far...Smells great, too! Excellent nose full of the usual grapefruit-y, citric, orange, lemon, dribbles of pinesap, peach, apricot, very fruity and pleasant.
Mmmm, great bittering blast bombards the palate at first sip, a puckering, wince-inducing, "mmmm-Wow, that’s hoppy!" kind of bite, that sticks in the craw for a while, before mellowing out. Mellow, that is, until next it meets the mouth. Fruity flavor is flush on the tongue, and everywhere, very bright and lively, with a slight sour kick way in the back, a contribution from the never-ending citric quality. Really tasty, with enough of a hop attack to keep my tastebuds, always anxious for pleasurable stimulation, ever-so satisfied. There’s an appreciated tangible texture, too, a juicy-fruity-ness that just sweet and delicious as they come.
Medium to full bodied, with a long, hoppy, ultimately dry, and unrelentingly fruity finish.
One minor caveat: not too hoppy, but not malty enough. Still, it’s very hard to complain about a brew this fine. Quite a tasty, tickling, tenacious rendition of the classic West Coast IPA style, though I feel this one really stakes it’s own ground and creates it’s own class...these Simcoe hops are somethin’ else!
I would, if possible, choose this delicious number over almost any other IPA made..."almost"...;^ ) Humulone_Red (743), Vancouver, Washington, USA Aug 8, 2004 Clear pale copper color with great head and lacing. Great citrus, piny, and earth nose. Nice pine/citrus bitterness balance will with a nice malt profile that hides the alcohol well. Very dinkable IPA. Volgon (2458), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jul 27, 2004 RBSG 2004: Clear orange with a small white head. Huge juicy grapefruit and pine aroma, full bodied with lively carbonation and creamy texture. Starts off bitter and ends very bitter. An excellent IPA!
