On tap at Henry’s Tavern in Portland. Clear ruby red with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel and some hops, not as as much hoppiness as you would expect. Flavor a huge pine/resin presence along with notes of grapefruit/citrus, caramel and toffee. Sweet and VERY bitter hop finish. Mouthfeel is very full, round and creamy on the palate with moderate carbonation. Good stuff.

On draught at the WM. Copper/amber color. Bitter aroma with a bit of pine. It is pretty hoppy, maybe centennial. Good beer.

Pours an orange/amber with a nice white head. Tons of citrus hops throughout with a touch of hop spiciness in the finish. This tastes more like a big IPA, with a big ol hop bitter grapefruit kick in the finish.

Sampled @ brewery, July 2004. Dark orange with lots of lacing. Roasted orange peel, some sweet nuts, spiced coconut and nutmeg... hoppy orange nose, very nice. A winner.

Medium brown color. Aroma is malty and sweet. A medium bodied American Strong Ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruity and floral. Nicely balanced. Big hoppy, high alcohol Strong Ale. Touches of caramel, raisins and roasted malts. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter.

Fairly dark amber color with good head retention & lots of sticky lacing. The aroma is sweet & earth with columbus & cascades. The flavor is moderately hoppy with a focus on the bitterness, not overwhelming but kind of dry. The finish is very good, rounded, blanaced, creamy, refreshing.

Very dense creamy head that leaves the perfect lace, you can trace each sip on the side of your glass with this smooth, amber brew. Not a real hop monster, leaning more towards a rich hybrid style that emphasizes caramel malt and fruity yeast(1056?) and spicy, yet clean and not overtly bitter hop flavor. There's still more than enough hops in this beer for all but the most hardened of imperial IPA fans, it's just that it's one component of the big picture rather than the screaming lead voice...a picture perfect example of "balance"!
