Lovely salmon amber with decent head. Fresh, grainy malt note is perfectly stated along with a subtleness of fruit in the aroma. The first taste reveals a nice graininess with a definite warmth of alcohol and a slight tartness. This has to be the strongest altbier I have sampled to date, and an excellent alt at that. Great array of medium to light malths with moderate alcohol heaviness, some fruitiness, and graininess. Tannic grainy sourness and fruit mix into the finish.

Jan 14, 2008 sampled @ brewpub - brewed special as milestone brew (batch #5,000 i think); clear and dark amber; aromas mix of malts, hops and fruit; drinks creamy and rich flavors; enjoyable across the board to be the consensus for a take out growler

Jan 9, 2008 On tap at the PDX Green Dragon. Pours ruby/copper with a soft khaki head. Fruity nose, caramel and doughy. Not as earthy as some alts, sides with the fruitier hops, but all around very drinkable beer. With a bit more earthiness and toasted malt flavors this would be a nice authentic German alt, but instead finds its way as a hopped up sessionable NW brew, and to my liking I must say.

Jan 9, 2008 On tap at Green Dragon--Poured a medium to light brown body with a tinge of amber. Healthy, medium-sized gray head. Nose is earthy, grassy, chewy, and creamy much like the flavor. Dry, with a moderate but compelling hops character. Finished with a little dry bite. Very flavorful and complex.

does not count  Jan 5, 2008 Updated: Feb 3, 2008I had this on two separate occasions at the brewpub. Nice dark amber-slightly red hue. Nice alt-stye maltiness. Great earthy hops that gives a nice, subtle, dry bite at the end. This may be the same hop they used in their Scottish-style ale earlier in 2007. Overall a very nice alt, although the hops are very earthy a quite Scottish in style. Great beer.
