4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft. Poured clear dark brown color with an average fizzy brown head that was lasted with excellent lacing. Heavy toasted malt and earthy hop aroma. Medium to full body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy smooth bittersweet toasted flavor with a heavy bittersweet finish of long duration. This is a standout beer and very complex as a draft.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A hoppy black ipa, definitely some spice, herbal, and pine notes to go with dark and roasty malts. 10+ ibus.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. Poured deep brown with a short-lived beige head. The aroma picked up toasted black and lesser cocoa malts topped by fresh, mostly pine resiny hoppage.. good balance between the roast and the hops. The flavor found near-burnt black malts and a kiss of licorice at the core.. bitter pine and some malty tardiness around.. finished with bitter roast and pine. Medium-bodied at most on the palate.. quite bitter overall.. engaging on the palate.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap. Poured dark brown with reddish hue (opaque edges) and a medium off-white head. Aroma had a nice combination of pine and grass hops with dark malts and a bit of coffee. Flavor began with some subdued pine hops and had building dark grains towards the finish with a hint of coffee.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
MiBG Summer Fest 2010: Deep brown with frothy head. The aroma has notes of roasty and charred malts, grassy hops, medicinal and catty vapours that is honestly weak. The taste displays sweet chocolate and charred malts, some coffee and toast, light handed noble hops that need to be more forceful. The mouth feel is soft and clean finishing which is actually surprising within the genre. Simply okay and too reserved for itís own good. With the word "double" in the name I fully expected a lot more.

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2010 Thanks to thirdeye11 for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a very dark red- brown color with a tan head. The aroma is alcohol, toffee and dark fruit. The flavor is toffee, alcohol, roasted malt and resiny hops. Low bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A pretty good Black IPA, but not the best I have tried.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(22oz bomber via trade with deyholla) clear very dark brown, creamy dark tan head. Nose of chocolate malt, cream, celery, citrus oils and candied ginger. Taste of sweet chocolate, very nice rye component, fudgey, great oily bittersweet finish. Extremely well balanced all the way around. Super easy to drink as well.
