Medium body, strong malty flavor, fine dry finish. A classic brown ale. Steaks and ribs are the best choices for our hearty, big-bodied Old Elk Brown Ale.

Head is initially small, creamy, off-white, fully diminishing. Body is medium orange-brown. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie, caramel), lightly hoppy (flowers, citrus - grapefruit), lightly yeasty (dough), with a banana note. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.

tap at the brewpub - Pours dark brown with a mild caramel malt aroma. As expected the flavor is also dominated by the caramel malts. That’s usually what brown ales are all about. There’s minimal hops presence here. It’s light bodied and really uninspiring.

Burgundy-brown and clear with a soft and light head. Smooth and creamy -- though light at times -- mouthfeel with a mild carbonation. Roasted and woodsy with a hint of smoke. Aromas of grains, chocolate and maybe even a hint of coffee. Overall, light, but not bad at all.

Gorgeous garnet color with silky head. Bland blend of hops and malt in aroma and flavor with a metallic finish. Medium body. Boring.

On tap at Walnut brewpub. Pour is slightly hazy amber/brown a small tan head and decent lacing. Roasty, bready, a touch of vanilla, cocoa, nutmeg, cinnamon, and bread in the aroma. Taste is roasty, slightly grainy, cocoa, graham crackers, grassy, bready, and earthy with a roasty bitter finish. Full mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Not a bad brown.
