I’ve had this one in New Zealand on my honeymoon. Visited the brewery too.
Had this one from tap from the brewery pub. Very balanced brew. Nice.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Purchased in Queenstown, consumed and enjoyed in Queenstown as one of the few satisfying experiences I had down there with my clothes on.
Plenty of hop aroma, good flavour for a lager and good lingering bitterness. Seconds definitely, but in warmer weather.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
strangely thick, yeasty and creamy for a lager. tastes of grainy creamed honey, cold porridge, nut nougat, stewed apricot. bizarre but i didnt mind it that much.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Golden-orange colour, thin white head. Reminds me of a continental lager, such as Becks. Malt nose fairly sweet flavour. Caramel malt flavours. Dryish finish. Overall, a clean, easy to drink beer.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tasted 20/12/2005. 330ml bottle from New World Metro, at JT’s.
Copper, diminishing off-white head, medium carbonation, slightly appley aroma, some toasty malt noted too, little in the way of hops, short finish.
The only thing "wrong" with this beer is that it’s a bit too strong, at 4.8%, to be the standard quaffer that I assume it is intended as. It’s the standard, mild, kiwi-brown lager, which is definitely not my thing (but it is done better than most).

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle from New World. Darker than I expected for a ’Gold’ name. Nice firm but thin creamy head all thru the glass. Faint fruity aroma. Wonderful construction. Complex fullness in the malts, creamy texture to give it some body and some nice hop finishing. I like this. Was close to it’s b/b date. Perhaps this is better matured than fresh? Would be interesting to sample a fresh comparison.

more body than a typical lager, but very bland. another one of the cheapest beers purchased from beercellar.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle. Clear coppery amber hue, creamy white ring head with some lacing. Beautiful caramel fudge, malty, biscuity , fruity aromas. Tastes very nice too; malty sweet with a long duration. Creamy texture, light carbonation, medium body, finishes very dry. A very nice brew.
