3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 sunevdj (2737) - Copenhagen OE, - FEB 10, 2012Bottle at Franz Joseph. Pours a dark brown with an off-white head. Sweet with a malty dryness. Lots of malt aromas and aromas of toasted malts. No sour edge (as you told me Jim.) Medium bodied. Medium to soft carbonation. Dry finish. This must be a brown ale, for sure.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 bluebetty (1019) - AUSTRALIA - SEP 8, 2012
Bottle. Pours a dark brown with very small light tan coloured head. Nutty aroma with some sweet caramel and a hint of earthiness. Nothing complex nor sour here. Flavours are a little think. Light roasted grain bitterness and light sweetness. Thin mouthfeel. Pretty ordinary I am afraid.
1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Brodies_Best (121) - Auckland Central, NEW ZEALAND - JUN 8, 2012
330 ml bottle pours cloudy dark brown. With little head. Faint aroma of alcohol and smokey malt. Taste is full bodied but not full in flavour. Smokiness comes through.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Jimthechap (1195) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 30, 2011
Russet to tawny port in colour with a greenish tinged mocha head. Aromas of tree bark, chocolate, astringent chlorophyll, brandied Christmas cake, allspice and ginger. Not nearly as thick I was expecting given the array of aromas, but for all that it is dark, complex and tangy. There’s Christmas cake, crystallised fruit, spices and a dash of tartness from the Kauri. Then it becomes at once mellow and challenging. The finish lingers and pulls your taste buds up around itself like a blanket: it almost feels as if they are moving around your tongue. There is dried currants and gooseberry on the finish, even some prune.
Tasty, oh so tasty. A future classic.
