Jukkabro (2307), Tampere, Finland May 8, 2008 Black colored with medium sized beige head. Smoke and berries in aroma with roastiness and fine hops, licorice also present. Medium bodied. Flavor is even more roastiness with nice smoke also, this beer is more like smoked than porter. Aftertaste dries with hops and berries, smoke still lasts, fine brew indeed.
chris_o (4393), London, Greater London, England May 5, 2008 Cask (handpump) at the Baltic Fleet, Liverpool, April 2008. Good and dark, with a creamy head. The smoke is sufficiently evident in the aroma to add a twist to the burnt malt, without being so strong as to overwhelm. Switches more to powdery chocolate and roasty character on the palate. Nicely bitter finish but retains a smooth, easy drinking mouthfeel. Very nicely balanced. Enjoyed this so much I had two.
Ungstrup (10863), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 7, 2008 Bottled at RBESG 2007. A deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of butter, caramel, and vegetables. The flavor is sweet with ontes of butter, malt, and caramel, leading to a dry bitter finish - something is wrong here. SaintMatty (334), Tallinn, Estonia Mar 12, 2008 500ml bottle- Black in colour with a few red tinges when held to the light. Slightly smokey aroma with a hint of bacon and malt. The smokey aroma is not as prominent as I had anticipated. Roasted, malty taste and with a smokey element which while noticeable, is not overwhelming. Easy to drink. motelpogo (4111), Plzen, Czech Republic Oct 5, 2007 bottled, rbesg07. very dark shade of purple, faint beige head. faint smoked tea aroma, a bit dull - light cocoa powder, light bitterness
