Cask (gravity) @ National Winter Ales Festival 2009, Manchester, England.
Clear medium to dark brown color with a small, virtually none head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt, spicy, moderate to heavy cinnamon. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20090124]

Cask @ National Winter Ales Festival 2009. An opaque brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has strong notes of spices - especially cardemomme, but also lighter notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of spices - again primarily cardemomme and medium notes of caramel and malt. A bit too spicy for my liking.

Bottled. Deep ambery brown colour with a beige head that leaves some lace. Aroma is spices, ripe fruits, toffee and some nutty notes. Flavour is more mellow spices along with ripe fruits, toffee, some toasted notes as well as a mild nuttiness.

Cask @ National Winter Ales Festival 2009, Manchester. Pours a dark reddish brown color with no head. Roasted malty spicy aroma with some hints of chocolate. Roasted malty spicy cinnamon and chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty spicy finish.

Cloudy dark brown beer. Light tan head. Semi dry palate. Sourish malt with a little citrus zest that dies away quickly leaving the malt which then gets a little sweeter. A hint of orange in the finish. Suppossed to have cinnamon and mixed spice - coulda fooled me!

Cask at Manchester winter ale fetival 2009... Deep black ... deap roast malt and rich spicey nose ... huge spice and lots of roast ... some chocolate ... very well balanced for such a heavily spiced beer... little coconut.

Cask, cellar run at The Baltic Fleet, Liverpool. Brewed in Oct/Nov 2006. Black with disappearing tan head. Liquorice old ale style, fruity, mince pies. Somewhere between an old ale and an imperial stout. But no real roastedness. This has amazing fruit, plums, damsons. Spice. A bit like a Xmas pudding, but with figs and spice.

Bottle. A dark, ruby to brown beer with a nice, beige, dense head on top. "Dark" aroma with roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, a touch of hoppy bitterness and some dried fruits. Roasted, coffeeish flavor with hints of hops, as well as some dried fruit, and a long, roasted finish. Full body. A really pleasant beer. (071228)

Our last drink after three happy drinking days at The National Winter Ales Festival 2013. Half-pint, cask served from bar 3. Dotted sports to the glassware, Coal black body with a deep rustic shade. Aromatic with plums, raisin and dark malts. The taste profile brings spiced mid-sweet malts and dried fruits as well as anise and caramel offset by berries. Malt bitter aftertaste. Fits the season well (Manchester, 25.01.2013).
