UPDATED: JUL 17, 2003 This beer is back in our neighbourhood again. Light malts low hop... slight bitter.. sweet. Nothing special.

Tasted from a can. Liquor Store is delisting this, so I thought I would grab it, even if it is likely quite old. Darker than expected. Decent nose. Hop and malt balance. Kind of thick to drink. Certainly sweet. Not bad...

Have to agree with Dogbrick here - GLís Eliot Ness has the category so far beat that even though this is a good beer - it just doesnít hold a candle...

This may say itís a vienna style beer, but it sure as hell tastes like a flat, and malty/sweet lager. Came in a can and tastes so sweet, itís like an entire bee-hive fell into the brewing apparatus. Itís right up there with Michelob Honey Lager on the sweetness scale. Granted, itís a fairly cheap beer, but I love it nonetheless.

Can version. Poured a nice amber color with a thick beige head. Malt and caramel aroma. Sweet malt flavor but kind of thin for a Vienna. Granted, GLís Eliot Ness has ruined me as far as other Viennaís go. It is nice to know that people had a beer this good 500 years ago.

Malty nose, smells like graham crackers. Tastes like graham crackers -- lightly sweet, syrupy, grainy. Looks like graham crackers -- deep straw gold or light brown. Not enough hops for me, with a sticky sweet finish but good mouthfeel. Perfectly drinkable, would probably have gone better with food.

An interesting beer. You would think it would have more then 6 ratings for a beer that has been around since 1478? However clean feel to this beer must be the spring water? Aftertaste is there and felt but is surprising and also very pleasing.

Re rate Not impressed with this one. Below average. It did get better recently but still I would go for Zywiec or EB.

Clear deep gold color, the head is white, and decent, the lace is also adequate. Nose is malt, clean and crisp. Front is sweet, the top is light, the finish is quite acidic, dry, and a fair hop presence, a drinkable beer, but average at best. Ranks #906 on my master beer list.

This definetely had the deep flavor to it, slight fuel like aftertaste. This is what i think old style tasted like back in the day before they started the high gravity brewing.
