2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DeanF (1477) - Iqaluit, Nunavut, CANADA - FEB 4, 2012
Thin head with a dark yellow strong-lager body like any other. Soft aroma of hops and particle board, but not overpowering, some fruity notes. Flavour is heavy caramel and chocolate, a total surprise for this type of brew and makes it much more palatable. And hides the alcohol. This is a unique flavour for a strong lager, I’d drink it ahead of several others. But it still ain’t great.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Metalchopz (1173) - Quebec, CANADA - JAN 25, 2012
Originally rated August 2005. Label says Warka in big red letters (not the word Strong) and the ABV is 7% on this one, bought at the LCBO. Pours a nice rich amber colour with a decent head. The lacing is pretty sticky. Slow carbonation. The nose had roasted malt and some alcohol. Smell of corn comes out after a 10 minute breathing gap, with some grain. Mouthfeel is kind of syrupy, but smooth. The taste is easy going malt with a hoppy overlay. Different in a way, but nothing too exceptional. Drinkability is good for a strong brew.

Bottled. Poured a nice gold. Weird almost winey aroma. Green apple taste.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 maneliquor (1005) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JAN 6, 2012
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Despite the rather poor rating I was actually surprised by this beer. Wasn’t too bad at all. Rather sweet toffee and biscuit on the nose with a touch of light fruits. A little sugary which is off putting. Quite a forward roasted caramel and toffee biscuit taste to it. Rather easy drinking. Not bad at all

50cl bottle pours clear deep copper with weak off white head. The aroma is pear and apple esters mixing with booziness to go along with a bit of raisins and prunes and some chemical booze. The taste is similar with sweet apples, ripe pear and some honey covered apricot. To midway and into the finish faint noble hops are noticed as well as sugary malt sweetened lagery yeast.

7.0% gold colour with a thin head, sweet malt aroma, malty caramel taste, nice.

pint bottle. Pours a clear dark gold with small grey head. Aroma of grain, corn syrup, soft hops, soft caramel. Flavor is malty, with notes of honey and caramel, to a lightly hopped finish. Retains the light, refreshing body of a pilsener in spite of the 7%, well maybe it’s a little fuller in body, but not much. I actually find it quite nice.
