Grainy whispy fields of wet hay assault you as the alcohol content will shortly thereafter. Skunk and fermented wet socks. I felt as if someone had stepped on my foot and then kept on walking without noticing after I consumed this beer. Why....oh why do I do this to myself? similar to Mickeys malt liquor but without the fun of the green glass hand grenade.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Papillon (280) - Sudbury, Ontario, CANADA - APR 5, 2010
500 mL Bottle, Apr. 4, 2010. Gold body with a small bubbly off-white head. Aroma of sweet malts with intense expressions of green grape and pear and subtle hints of pineapple and melon. This one is a bit sweet for my liking: sweet malts with a fruity-syrupy quality about it. The hops are not that strong but they do speak up. Pear and melons in the aftertaste followed by a heavy sweet cloying finish.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 FreshHawk (596) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - MAR 15, 2010
Bottle.
A - Light amber with a decent sized foamy white head. Good retention and a decent lacing.
S - Sweet and tangy malt with a slight grainy corn. Some floral hops. Slight skunky and ammonia smell.
T - Tangy caramel malt is the base. Some nutty flavors. Also a bit of apple taste. On top of that is a bit of floral hops. A little bit of spice and alcohol. Also a bit of skunk/ammonia flavor. Taste kind of like a malt liquor.
M - Light to medium body with a good amount of carbonation. Slightly sticky feel.
D - Not bad drinkability. Taste is not really appealing, but not offensive. Sticks on your tongue. Goes down fairly simple.
Notes: Seems kind of like a Polish malt liquor. Flavors just don’t quite work for me, but they grew on me a bit. I’m not entirely sure why, but they are just a little off to me.

From the 500 ml. bottle that does have a "best by" date but it is unreadable. It pours a sparkling amber-copper with essentially no head or lacing. It has a nice malty and licorice aroma with a bit of hops in the mix too. It has a smooth medium texture with a sugar and malty sweetness as well as baked bananas and bread. The higher alcohol is barely noticed but there is a hard liquor feel to it.

UPDATED: JAN 27, 2011 Somewhat malty and slightly hoppy but not very interesting, but the flavour is quite full with some bitterness, and not even in the typical european strong lager crappiness. Well, maybe a bit too apparent sugary stuff. Still nice though.

my bottle doesn’t say "strong" but the label says 7% and the descriptions match, so this must be it. Dark golden amber. Some skunk and corn on the nose. Not a bad malt profile despite the skunk. Has sort of a bock or marzen- like candy sweetness and backed by a touch of bitter hops. Not terrible but I doubt i’ll be drinking this again.

Dark gold, clear with very thin head. Pleasant, mildly hoppy aroma. Boring flavor w/ a hint of skunk. Sorry.

Canned. Amber color with white head. Malty aroma. Sweet, malty, full flavor. Short sweet aftertaste. Nothing special.
