   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 15/20
superspak (2630) - Michigan, USA - JAN 15, 2014
330 ml bottle into dimpled mug, best before 5/28/2014. Pours slightly cloudy golden amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of honey, bread, cracker, pear, apple, grape, floral, grass, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Ok aromas with solid balance of malt, hop, and yeast ester notes; with decent strength. A bit too much yeast fruitiness in the nose. Taste of honey, bread, cracker, light caramel, floral, grass, pear, apple, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Slight herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of honey, bread, cracker, light caramel, floral, grass, pear, apple, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish. Nice balance and robustness of malt, hop, and yeast ester flavors; with a great malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a slightly creamy and very smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a good Oktoberfest style. Good balance and robustness of malt, hop, and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Smells almost identical to their Premium Verum (popcorn malts). Flavor is also quite similar, though there is some toast and a slight bit of nuttiness to distinguish it as an Okto. Still, this is mostly like their grassy, somewhat hoppy pils, and unless paying very close attention, it would be easy to mistake this for Premium Verum. Not the best example of an Okto by any stretch. Warsteiner should put more effort into making this different.

Corrinado711 (80) - - NOV 9, 2013
Bottle. Pours a transparent golden amber with thin foamy head. Aroma of sour yeast, wheat and barley. Taste is sour, wheat, bready with a slightly bitter finish. Very light Mouthfeel. Has a pilsner/watery Oktoberfest taste. Not much body to this beer, light taste, too much bitterness and sourness with the finish.

Location: Draft at Dorrian’s Red Hand, 11/3/13

Aroma: Nice, clean malty aroma, on the light side, with caramel and bready notes
Appearance: It pours a clear golden color with a nice sized white head and some light lace
Flavor: The taste is along the same line, clean and malty, a little sweet, but not overly sweet
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a crisp, clean feel, and a smooth finish
Overall Impression: Solid example of the style. It is clean and easy drinking, which makes for a nice overall feel, even if the flavors aren’t all that exciting.

On Tap in Seattle .. OK Oktoberfest beer, and much better than the regualr Warsteiner but still not as good as some of the other german Oktoberfest options .... probably would not buy again

I really enjoy this beer. It got a great rich flavor and I have to say its the best Oktoberfest beer out there.

JDBaker11058 (1282) - Maryland, USA - OCT 22, 2013
Appearance: deep, clear gold with two fingers of thick, frothy, bright white head that lasts a surprisingly long time, leaving lots of lace and slowly shrinking to a thick cap. Aroma: slightly sweet, with aromas of musty grain, honey, toast, and a hint of wet grass. Taste: sweet and bready, with caramel, brown toast, honey smacks, a bit of black pepper, and some light orange/marmalade notes. Finish: clean, slightly sweet, with a crisp back end. Notes: Lighter in color than the Marzens I’m used to, but the head and lacing were a quality surprise. Aromas and flavors were on the sweet side, but very enjoyable and consistent with the style, although not quite as bready as typically expected. A pleasant surprise, from a generally sub-par brewery.

Pours yellow-gold with a thick white head. Aroma is "Oktoberfest" with the yeast, pilsener malts and peppery spices. Taste is mildly sweet malts that drops quickly for the finish. Definitely refreshing.

Nice color. Reasonably full flavored beer, with a good taste and mouthfeel. No bitterness. One of the better Oktoberfest beers for my tastes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is grainy/bread-like malts and hints of earthiness and fruit/lemons. The flavor is fruit/berries, bread-like malts and slightly tart/smooth finish.
