I am suprised at the low ratings ... but then again, I always am. I am the consumate high rater. This brew has a little bit darker color compared to the other two Octoberfests that I tasted tonight. Nice maltiness ... a decent Octoberfest, lesser, however than the Spaten or Haufbrau.

On tap at Taco Mac. Typical Oktoberfest shade of copper, with a thin head. Sweet malty aroma, with notes of brown sugar and caramel. Flavor is nicely malted, delicately spiced, and crisply refreshing all the way through. A clean, refreshing seasonal with some stimulating flavors.

draft. clear golden color, think body, with the slightest sweetness, this is not an impressive Oktoberfest.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bright golden amber hue, good head formation, slight haze. Clean sweet malt aroma. Sweet malty flavor, smooth relatively thick palate, some fruitiness and caramel with a fair bitterness in the finish. Smooth and enjoyable but not very interesting for its style.

Had this on tap at McCann’s bar at the NYC Port Authority bus terminal while watching an epic baseball playoffs game. The beer was medium-orange, and more balanced in the direction it decided to head, flavor-wise, than other Oktoberfests I’ve had. Taste...something like grape-cherry rock candy, artifically flavored. A bit corn syrupy-sweet off the aroma, then kind of oily on the palate later on. Almost too warming, it seems, for the style. Decent, on the whole, despite flaws that strike me.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Draft: San Diego Brewing Co. in San Diego, CA) Not themost flavorful Oktoberfest in the world, and the fmalt flavor is too grainy for my tastes, but it’s pleasant and enjoyable enough; Moderately sweet, somewhat bitter on the back end; Medium bodied; The nose is moderately malty, but fairly grainy, with a honey sweetness and a light hoppiness; Light amber in color; Off-white head fades away to nothing quickly, and obviously no lacing is left

3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
TAP- This poured a golden-brown color with an appreciable white head that subsided, yet laced the glass as I drank. The sweet maltish aroma was a bit heavy for me, and I anticipated a gooey, sticky drink. Actually not bad, a medium body with full caramel malt flavors. Fairly clean finish.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft - at an Oktoberfest, which may cause me to artificially inflate the rating. One of the better Oktoberfest beers I’ve had. Nice dark orange color, nice mild hops aroma, sweet malt taste and a clean finish.

I’ve always viewed Warsteiner as a solid beer but with very little character--something to drink and not be sipped contemplatively. This is no different. Darker in color, less hoppy, and more malty than the original. Not bad.
