2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Drjohnrock (288) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 31, 2005Just had this on draft at the Germania Oktoberfest, the first of many Oktoberfest festivals in the Cincinnati area. For some reason, Warsteiner brands are increasingly the only draft offerings at most of the local Oktoberfests. Medium orange color, good but too light malt flavor. This is just too lightly flavored. Not tasteless like Warsteiner Dunkel or rancid like Warsteiner "Premium" Verum, but nothing to attract a retry.

On draught at Freakin’ Frog. Super clear dark golden color. Sticky sweet aroma. Taste is sweet sugary caramel with hint of molasses. Good, but not a favorite.

A - Pours a clear golden straw. Big fluffy 2 finger head. Blots of lacing left behind.
S - Husk and sweet grain. Earthy lager yeast.
T - Spicy hops off the top. Earthy grains flowing heavy. Weird honey kissed malt. The malt slowly starts showing up more as it sets. I poured the beer at 47 degrees F.
This is not a good representation of the style by any means. I think they got the Pilsner tanks mixed up with the Marzen tanks. It’s like a macro pilsner with artificial sweetener.

From a bottle into a pilsner glass. Slight aroma of floral malts, standard for the style. Reasonably flavorful; decent quality in the marzen style.

Bottle - fair size foamy head, medium amber color, typical but nice sweet malty aroma and flavor - pretty good for the style

One of my least favorite Oktoberfest imports. Effervescent and has the stink of pasteurized imports. Caramel, bread, brown sugar, and nuttiness.

Heavy fizz in this one, guys. A little bit of bitter carbonation on the nose and taste, but with a nicely balanced flavor to round it out. Worth trying for sure.

Poured from a 12oz bottle. Light golden color, no lacing, nice head but dissipates quickly. Smells and tastes like hay.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 OmegaX (1001) - Florida, USA - OCT 21, 2012
On tap at Boktoberfest. Nose is grainy, caramel malt, and some lightly grassy hops. Color is bronze with a white head. Very bubbly in the glass. Taste is true to the marzen style: caramel malts, some grassy hops, and a lighter body. It had a pale malt tinge to it on the finish. A solid oktoberfest brew.

Clear copper color with a white soapy head. Aroma of grain, nuts, and caramel. Grain, caramel, and nut flavor. Fairly simply beet with a bit of skunk funk.
