3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown and clear. Not the strongest head. A little watery at first, but carbonation and texture seemed to improve as I drank. Interesting aroma. Nice and roasty with sweet black licorice notes. Surprisingly refreshing and clean and rather easy to drink.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: SEP 28, 2009 Rerate Cola brown appearance, slight off-white head. slight caramel aroma and matching taste. Smooth mouthfeel, decent. Original 3.5 Had this on draft at the Mellow Mushroom in Chattanooga. Has a pleasant malty aroma - ruby red dark appearance. Good malty flavor. Stays strong to the finish - has a good thick mouthfeel to it.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
The beer looks better than it tastes. Beautiful clear chestnut brown. Small but persistent off-white head. Smells like caramel, with a hint of chocolate and a tang I can't quite place. Unremarkable mouthfeel. The taste is surprisingly bland, a faint bitterness from the roasted barley, quickly overcome by sweetness. Not as good as the Verum.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUN 1, 2004 Appearance is a darkish/red. Flavor is clean with a slight sourness and a distinctive yeastiness. Some bitterness but not very full bodied. This is not bad for a mass produced European beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
This brew poured a medium white head that was quick to dissolve. There was not a lot of lacing on the sides of my mug. It had a dark brown body. Bitterness was definintely noticed in this drink. I was not very impressed with this brew.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Dark like root beer, with a foamy pour. Very little aroma of any kind save malt. Taste of burned chocolate. Overrated.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUN 4, 2003 This brew poured a dark transparent brown body with a small head of white bubbles. It had a malty aroma as well as an initially bitter taste that lingered around for a while. Its lacing was good, but overall not one of the better Dunkels. Pass.

It's been years since I had the Warsteiner Premium Verum, which I very much dislike, so I enter this beer with both hope and fairly low expectations. This beer starts off a fairly nice dark reddish amber with a quickly fading light tan head. The aroma is NOT impressive. Kind of a stinky mix of yeast and wheat...not overly pleasant. The flavor is alright. It's fairly thin and doesn't last on the tongue at all. Decent, though, while it lasts.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Medium brown color. Medium head. Aroma is malty. A medium bodied dunkel. Malts are slightly roasted and a touch chocolaty. Hops are mild spicy. Well balanced. Smooth. Light and refreshing. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
