So, I’ve always kinda complained about how Warsteiner is a shitty example of German beer. Especially the Dunkel. But upon my last tasting, it started to grow on me a bit. Maybe it took pouring it into a nice clear stein to see it’s mahogany, oaky, copper color and nicely sustaining frothy white head. The aroma is rather nice too; very sweet and malty with caramel and a hint of cocoa. The flavor is the only thing that is left to be desired next to a higher quality dunkel. Yet it is still flavorful enough to enjoy while being rather light and refreshing. Cocoa and vanilla with roasted malts. Nice, medium finish. Not too shabby. But no Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel..

Can 500ml. Pours dark/amber with medium-high beige head. Good lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, german yeast. Taste is of roasted malt, very slight bitterness, dirt, some caramel. Palate: Medium body. Medium carbonation. Overall: Decent. Classic stuff, no serious flaw.

Clear dark amber with a thin ring of off-white head. Bready. Toasty. A touch of dryness. Watery. Theres something going on, but not alot. Not bad.

12 ounce bottle from backlog notes 07/08. Pours a clear cola brown color with a thin off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted malts, slight grainy, caramel, mild dark fruit notes, raisin, thin bodied, not bad for a mass produced dunkel.

Dark beer, brown stable head, coffee and nuts aromas, when is poured a standard carbonation is seen. The taste reveal mainly malt flavors; however the balance with hops is pretty good, none of the ingredients is overpowered, and the aftertaste is sweet complex and clear.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass Aroma: A lot of burnt malts along with some raisins. Dark, medium brown color, with a decent sticky off white head with good retention. Smooth and light-bodied with a dry mouthfeel.

from a chilled 330ml bottle and poured into a mug (quick and direct from reading other bier lovers tests) where there is a very light brown cloud of foam billowed @ the rim, floating above the cola hues, but, i’ve always enjoyed this dunkel, anyway. note: site sez 4.9 percent and bottle paper label sez 4.8 percent alcohol.

Uma cerveja dunkel de baixa fermentação bem interessante. Sabor de cereais tostados e leve amargor dos lúpulos.

Bottle. Pours dark brown and clear, slight head. Slight roast aroma, taste is sweet roast with a clear finish. Nice beer, even a year after its best by date.
