3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 JLAudio (282) - Crestwood, Illinois, USA - NOV 21, 2008This is such an underrated beer. I love it so much because it is a perfect cigar compliment. It has the perfect mouthfeel for this style, better than any other I’ve had. It has a long, smooth, easy going finish. One of the beers you don’t have to think about.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Brouwerij (410) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 17, 2013
Tap at Biergarten. Pours a dark brown with light tan head, decent retention and lots of thin lacing. Aroma is moderately roasted, super nutty, toffee. Flavor is roasted malty, very nutty, caramel/toffee, caramelized sugar, very mildly burnt. One of the nuttiest malt profiles I have ever tasted. More roasted than the few dunkels I’ve had. Moderate carbonation and medium-light body. Very malty, nutty, toffee beer. Was pleasantly surprised by this one.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 DedicatedToFun (653) - Alabama, USA - MAY 16, 2013
Bottle. Pours a dark brown with no head. The aroma is non existent. The taste is a good dunkel.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MarkQ (58) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 28, 2013
Tasted like it’s been roasted... the taste of coffee comes to mind. dark brown but you can see the bottom and through the glass from the top.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Freaky_tiki (49) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 28, 2013
Sets the bar high for light bodied lager. Good on the deck, in the basement or on the street in a paper bag. Twang in the carbonation gives this a nice twist.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Aquilo (488) - Berkeley, California, USA - APR 25, 2013
Very dark amber color, very clear. Floral hop aroma. Mildly bitter flavor, with some woody flavors in the finish. A very clean, simple beer all around.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jehoesefat (66) - Kapolei, Hawaii, USA - APR 19, 2013
Deep earthy aroma. Pours dark brown with a thin head. Well balanced flavor, a little weak for my tastes. Overall a refreshing beer!
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Hateball16 (83) - - APR 1, 2013
Lovely looking brilliantly clear lager, deep mahogany with striking ruby highlights. Small thin white head. Aromas of pumpernickel, toffee, raisins. Extremely clean on the palate, light medium bodied with brisk carbonation, no discernable hop bitterness, malt rules the roost! Flavours of toffee biscuits followed by some slight raisiny fruitiness. Finish is quick but not dry. This is as good a dunkel lager as I’ve had.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jdleigh (53) - - APR 1, 2013
Sweet and malty on the nose. Balanced caramel roasted malt and hops, smooth flavor. Lingering bitterness in the finish.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 crajun (686) - , Texas, USA - MAR 14, 2013
bottle to glass; not much aroma - malty bread maybe nuts; brown beige pour. just very little flavor; nothing bad but many better ways to spend $ and time
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 hoponpops (2) - - MAR 10, 2013 does not count
Pours dark brown with a thin khaki head. but that is to be expected from this style. Aromatic, bready and stays on the palate. See I can drink this anytime or with any meal as opposed to something heavier or kicking with hops. Would drink it again for sure.
