2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
not much to report here: in color it’s half way between tap water and anemic pale yellow. a disc of snowy foam differentiates it from an herbal tea in appearance. disturbing to learn that this is germany’s best selling beer - it begs the question: what exactly is it selling? proof that not even the reinheitsgebot can save a beer when vapidity appears to be the brewer’s goal. a paper-like aroma, suggesting a fresh box of envelopes, some hop perhaps, but again, used so parsimoniously it hardly matters. about as satisfying in terms of aroma as catching a whiff of the neighbor’s bar b-q, that is, great for him but of little consequence to our own appetite. should be served with a sprig of hallertauer to swish around in the glass. still, aspersions aside, it’s merely bland rather than overtly offensive. appropriate for watching t.v., smoking cigars or eating cookies, anything but studious attention to the beer.

Strong sweet smell. Pale yellow, bit of head. Grassy. Light. From Germany?

The commercial description says it all - it is, indeed a ’classic German Plisner’.
A bit light (most Pils are to my taste), but beautifully balanced malt/hop character, pleasantly bitter. This is supposedly the largest selling beer in Germany.
RE-RATE BEGINS HERE: Had always had this in bottles until a week ago, when I had a chance to try it draft - and had to lower my rating as a composite. The draft is very, very watered-down tasting.
Still a good Pilsner in bottles, but I can’t recommend the draft, based on my experience.

Light colour, sour & bitter, horrid. Lucky it was on special or I’d be really pissed off.

Light beer with not alot of flavour. But the beauty of it is that it is extremely drinkable.

Beats the hell out of Becks/Heineken/St. Pauli in the mid-priced Europils class.

Quite tasty. I will rerate with more samplings. Still a little too expensive in my area. Good macro pilsener but not for 9.00 a six pack.
