JDW Rochester. Smooth foamy biscuit malt gently sweet with a healthy dose of dusty hops. Decent, though not my thing.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask conditioned handpump Old Bank Northampton 10/07/13. A brown beer with a whitish head. Quite phenolic. A bit of smoky ashtray. More sweet than hoppy. Odd and misdirected although not totally unpleasant. It’s just the unpleasant notes that are more obvious.

Golden amber colour. Not a big aroma, slightly woody. Taste slightly sweet with lingering bitterness. Fairly ok, not brilliant but fine.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
11th May 2012 saw me on a mini pub crawl of Wellington: my local Wetherspoons had this on hand pull, so I had a pint.
Golden, with an orange hue to it: on top an off-white covering of bubbles that tried to stay the distance.
Hoppy nose: floral more than citrus, with a lightly toasted biscuit sweetness in there too.
The taste was a pleasant blend of flavours: hops and light maltiness joining to give an easy drinking semi-sweet/semi-bitter beer. Nothing to make it stand out, equally nothing wrong with it either.
The 4.9% ABV doesn’t appear in the taste and it feels more like a 3.9% ABV beer.

Cask at The Lord Moon of the Mall, JDW, London. Pours clear yellow with a creamy white cap. Nose is all creamy malts, straw and citrus. Light sweet flavor with some burnt straw, dirt, hay and lemon rind. Light in body with fine carbonation. Mild sweet finish with more toasted straw, some white sugar, zesty dry citrus. The beer has its moments, but it’s mediocre on the whole.
