JDW Rochester. Smooth foamy biscuit malt gently sweet with a healthy dose of dusty hops. Decent, though not my thing.

Cask @ Beer Shack, Burnley. Light amber-brown with a frothy head. Lightly fruity with a small stewed taste. There’s also a small berry-sweetness in its nose. Quite crisp.

Cask conditioned handpump Old Bank Northampton 10/07/13. A brown beer with a whitish head. Quite phenolic. A bit of smoky ashtray. More sweet than hoppy. Odd and misdirected although not totally unpleasant. It’s just the unpleasant notes that are more obvious.

Golden amber colour. Not a big aroma, slightly woody. Taste slightly sweet with lingering bitterness. Fairly ok, not brilliant but fine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

11th May 2012 saw me on a mini pub crawl of Wellington: my local Wetherspoons had this on hand pull, so I had a pint. Golden, with an orange hue to it: on top an off-white covering of bubbles that tried to stay the distance. Hoppy nose: floral more than citrus, with a lightly toasted biscuit sweetness in there too. The taste was a pleasant blend of flavours: hops and light maltiness joining to give an easy drinking semi-sweet/semi-bitter beer. Nothing to make it stand out, equally nothing wrong with it either. The 4.9% ABV doesn’t appear in the taste and it feels more like a 3.9% ABV beer.
