DruncanVeasey (1612), Burbage, Leicestershire, England May 29, 2007 Updated: Nov 9, 2007Cask handpump, The Market Tavern, Atherstone. A sniff of wood in the nose. Milky white pint resolving into pale gold. Soapy, still and silkily malty with citrussy hints of lemon and orange blossom. Creamily wheaty afters. Easy-drinking, aromatically hoppy sessions. johndoughty (1580), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Jan 18, 2007 Bottle. Golden and very lively upon pouring.Big head and slightly malty.Left lots of lacing. chris_o (4405), London, Greater London, England Mar 18, 2007 Cask (handpump) at The Market Tavern, Atherstone. Amber/gold in colour, with a tight creamy head. Heavy use of the sparkler seems to be the favoured dispense method in this pub. Which probably accounts for the paucity of aroma. Some flowery touches. Tangy, orange citrus flavours, with a touch of underlying dry malt. Plenty of bitterness. Mouthfeel is juicy, but firm. Crisp, dry and refreshing. No huge depths here but a pretty decent quaffing beer.
RichardGretton (2603), Leicestershire, England Jun 2, 2007 Bottle. Light brown beer with a strong head. The aroma is mildly dry with a hint of toffee, and the flavour is very bitter, roasted and well hopped with a long dry finish. Overall a nice beer. Joeh (1892), Buckinghamshire, England Oct 12, 2004 Cask conditioned at the Royal Standard, Wooburn Common, Bucks (gravity dispense). Golden, with fruity aroma. Fruity, malty, citrus and slightly hoppy flavour. Nice but nothing special.
