Ungstrup (11340), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 23, 2008 Bottled. A hazy amber beer wtih a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet and acidic with strong notes of star anise, while the flavor is very acidic and again with strong notes of star anise, leading to a dry spicy finish. larsga (2293), Oslo, Norway Sep 21, 2008 Small offwhite head does not last. Hazy deep reddish amber body. Yeasty fruity aroma with citric notes. Sweet-acidic vinegary fruity taste. This is infected. No point going into the details, but I have to say I’m disappointed to be offered an infected beer when I ask for a recommendation. (0.1l taster draft at EBF ’08.) pivnizub (3871), Porúří, Germany Jul 11, 2008 Bottle: Chestnut-amber coloured, bigger, quite stable off-white head; vinegar, sweet dark malt and the sweet smell of a heep in the nose; sweetish-sourish flavour, light bodied; malt and vinegar in the finish. Almost disgusting........ oh6gdx (6331), Vaasa, Finland Jun 18, 2008 Bottled. Hazy amber colour with mediumsized head. Aroma is cloves, zest and yeast. Flavour is the same along with some really strange sweetness, probably infected bottle here too. MoritzF (3883), Ruhrpott, Germany Jun 17, 2008 (bottle, courtesy of Papsoe) Hazy, dark amber colour with a big but non-persistent light-beige foamy head. Dusty, sweet toasty malty nose with subtle fruity notes and anise, accompanied by a barnyardy stench. Sourish, infected flavour, medium bodied with a lively carbonation. Sourish fruity taste that covers almost all the malty flavour; sourish, berry fruity like finish. The negative highlight of an evening of infected brews. Yuck (10.06.08).
