COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
If you’re going to sin, sin big. With 8% alc/vol and a creamy richness, this brew has developed a serious cult following. Imagine that – a cult following in Utah?!
Food Pairings: Front of cow, back of cow, rattlesnake.

12 oz single bottle from Biggie Wine & Liquor. Brown appearance with a lacy white head. Mild aroma and somewhat mild flavor of dark malts, chocolate and a mild earthy bitterness. Medium to full body with a rich finish. Decent doppelbock.

Caramel and dark, dried fruits with an elevated ABV. Smooth and the sweetness invites the next mouthful. Very malty and not a significant level of hop presence here. This is a good entry level doppelbock and is good to serve company since it isn’t too expensive and is readily available.

When in Utah, buy Wasatch. Amber pour, with a nice, fat, white head. A surprising aroma is filtering up through the foam and I’m looking forward to a first taste. None of the other brews from this brand have been as aromatic. First sip brings a caramel-infused, fruity dough flavor, and a sweet’n’sour on my tongue. The body is thin, but not watery, and the carbonation good for a short while. Drink it quick, unless you like it flat, and keep it cold! This is a decent brew if you treat it right, and I am happy to say that although it’s not my favorite in this style, its definitely my favorite Wasatch!

"pretty roasty in the aroma and flavor, and a touch thin for the style and an 8% brew. reminds me of mammoth double brown ale...like a bastard brown/dopplebock, which isn’t bad, but left me wanting a little more. fairly sweet lingering finish."

Pours a deep auburn red with a foamy head. Aromas caramel, slight toffee, slight smoked caramel and grain. Flavors medium caramel, slight toffee, hay and mild grain. Medium sweet. Decent but forgetable.

Transfer from BA review on 6-8-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown/mahogany color with a one finger tan colored head. The head fades relatively quickly leaving a light level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is bready and of a darker fruit aroma. The darker fruits are mainly of raisin and prune but have some cherry in there as well. With these aromas there is also a light boozy smell of a more rum like aroma. Taste – The taste begins bready and sweet with a whole lot of dark fruit flavors upfront. Raisin and prune are the most prevalent of the sweet with some lighter caramel and toffee flavor coming to the tongue more toward the middle. Along with the sweet, so too comes some flavors of a light spice and some yeast as well. Toward the end a boozy flavor develops on the tongue leaving a sweet and warming feel to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel –The body of the beer is on the slightly thicker side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. Both are good for the slightly sweeter and fruity flavors of the brew as well as the lighter boozy flavors. Overall - .A sweeter and rather pleasantly fruity tasting dopplebock. It was rather enjoyable overall and one to try if you get the chance.

Clear deep red - amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Decent fine carbonation. Rich malts, creamy with a little unsweet toffee. Mild molasses. Light smooth finish. Not much else here but certainly delivers the malts!

Bottle from GBBF 2014. Poured a dark, clear ruby with a halo of white head. Aroma of berries, malt, peal and dates. Smooth mouth feel. Rye bread in the flavour, with some satsuma, raisin and grain. Finish was toffee, roasted malt and dark fruit.
