3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear garnet brown pour with a one finger, creamy khaki head that has great retention. Aroma is full of bready, toasty malt, some doughy yeast, a hint of rum, toffee and light herbal hops. Flavor is caramel, toffee, crusty bread, light resinous pine, cereal, dry hay, light nutty notes and some earthy, herbal and floral hops. Medium body, super chewy feel throughout and light, but somewhat sharp and blanketing carbonation. Pretty tasty stuff, a little on the sweet side for my taste, even for the style, but good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Lovely appearance, dark but a bright clear copper red tone. Sweet buttery grainy caramel malts hit you in aroma with a tangy almost sour like kind of citrus. Bit of spice and herbal. Cream brule. Taste is malty citrus, herbal and spice with a tangy finish with citrus. The middle is smooth and rich with carmelly malts, sweet raison, toffee rich buttery and some mild roast character. Sticky sweetness stays in your mouth. I suppose this might be better than the average bock, but still pretty shure this style is not my thing. As I always remind myself everytime I get one once in a blue moon.

3.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from bottle to Pilsner glass:
Starts off with a thick, foamy, light tan head that dissipates slowly; starts out dark brown and lightens to a golden color as you hit bottom. Clear all the way through.
The nose is pretty basic, with a malty, musty smell. It's reasonably thick and has a simple, strong flavor. Primarily coffee laced with some chocolate and nutty notes in the background. The ABV is relatively well disguised, and the finish is the same coffee and malt you started with, but smoothed out and a bit lighter on the palate. Solid, heavy, and strong if that's what you're looking for.

Very nice American effort at a Doppelbock. Not quite as malty as an EKU or Celebrator Doppelbock, but very respectable.
