When I lived in Salt Lake 7 years ago, this was the best beer around. I guess... I donít really need to write more. Iím emotionally attached, but when we brought it to a fellow ex-Mormonís party here in Texas, I was shocked how like muddy water it tasted. Thatís what you get when making a Porter thatís legal to sell in Utah (at 4% alcohol), but back in the day I was mighty thankful for Wasatch Brewery, our local alternative to Natty Light.

Pours cola brown with some frothy head and some lacing. Nose is quiet, some vanilla. Flavours of vanilla, some light coffee, some chocolate. Taste light/med sweet and light bitter. Light foamy body with light carbonation.

Pours black, nice thick tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is light coffee, a bit of roasted malts, a bit of char. Taste is much better than the aroma, nice coffee favors, a bit of sweet chocolate, toasted malts and a bit of faint fruitiness. Thin mouthfeel, highly carbonated. Pretty average porter.

Bottle. Pours a near-black color with a rather small tan head on there. Nose is roasty with a little bit of bread in there. Taste is nicely roasty with some hints of coffee to it. Really nice easy drink for a porter.

Bottle in Moab.

Brown pour with ruby highlights and a small head. Pretty much had to try this classic as well. I donít really get the hate. Maybe people just arenít into the 4% thing? Me, I think itís great if you can pull off a decent beer at that ABV, and these guys have nailed it. Mild roast and chocolate, just a hint of ash, some coffee, some licorice -- thereís plenty going on here. Sure, itís not big and sticky, but thatís a substantial part of the appeal. Really nice porter.

Clear, light copper, smoky color, tall, persistent head. Pronounced yeasty nose. Extra-light body, weak and simple flavor, balanced in its weakness, well carbonated, good length. Sweet & sour, Roast flavors, barley candy, ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark brown with some red in it when placed to the light. The head was off white and dissipated rather quickly leaving little lacing. The aroma is chocolate and lightly/medium roast, and also some mild coffee. The taste is similar but less pronounced compared to the aroma. The taste is light and almost watery which is expected at the 4% abv. Not a bad beer, worth the try!

Bottle. Chocolate and earthy roasty malt aroma. Deep chestnut with a moderate tan head. Milk chocolate, coffee, and roasty flavor. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Iím rather impressed at the fullness of flavor out of a 4% ABV.

Brown pour. Small on of white bubbles. No lacing. Toasty aroma and malt. Chocolate and coffee. Taste is pretty much the same. Slight roasted chocolate. Nice.

Medium tan head with clumpy bubbles. Dark ruby brown. The slightest faint chocolate atoms. You really have to work for it though. Slight chocolate taste but the pallate has a hole in it. Not a full feeling body. Nice flavorful session beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
