Clear deep amber, thin off-white head, some lacing. Malt aroma with a hint of pine lurking in the background. Balanced taste with a nod toward the sweet side. A bit thin on the palate.

12 oz bottle.
Clear mohagany, with a thin tan head and patchy lace.
Roasty, nutty, sweet aroma, a little burnt sugar and hints of caramel.
Flavor is slightly sweet, touch of roasted malt and carmelized sugar.
Finish has a slight burnt sugar quality, but not enough to detract
Decent.

dionysus (1448) - Arizona, USA - APR 25, 2010
Bottle pours red-amber with a creamy off-white head that leave some spotty lacing. Aroma is caramel (almost burnt), molasses, nuts, and light smoke. Flavor shows the same with an additional cherry cola aspect. Overall body is moderately sweet, light to moderately bitter, and finishes with some nice warming alcohol. I did a double take when I realized it came from Utah.

mbgrayson (544) - Anaconda, Montana, USA - APR 3, 2010
Pours a darkish amber. Very tasty and smooth with a bit of kick. Has notes of fruit and Carmel. Drinkable and worth another. Thumbs up on this one.

OD40oz (773) - Box Elder, South Dakota, USA - MAR 24, 2010
Pours a clear brown with a quickly diminishing, off-white head. Roasty caramel nose. Molasses and caramel taste. Warm tasting brew. Not too bad but a little weak on flavor.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of nuts, malt, molasses, and a hint of cocoa. Poured copper/deep amber in color with a tiny, off-white head that turned into a dense tan head because of all of the bubbles. Clear. Very sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of nuts, malt, light toasted caramel, slight alcohol, grains, and a hint of alcohol. Medium body. Slightly dry texture. Soft to average carbonation. Nut, malt, and toasted caramel finish is slightly dry. 8%ABV is slightly noticeable in the flavor.

Suttree (5186) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 27, 2010
Copper brown, thin loose head. Smells like brown sugar, toffee, rye and perhaps some whiskey notes. Flavor is molasses and rum, perhaps even some honey. I get a lot of alcohol burn as it warms. Well, maybe not "a lot", but more than I expected. Thanks to douglas88 for the trade!

Pours light brown, and smells like caramel malts. Full body, very malty, and sugary which masks the alcohol pretty well. Overall a decent, but forgettable beer.

Powertrip (999) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 19, 2010
I was shivering in my shoes when I ordererd the mightly beer from our server at dinner last night. The powerful and ominous name and roaring bottle artistry was sure to make this one of the best beer experiences of my life! WRONG. I struggled to find anything on the nose past the mildest of malt. The mouth was thunderous to start with.....dominant malt and thick alchohol but then a sugary hold took over eventually falling flat on its face by mid-palate. What a disapointment for a well-respected locally well-respected brewery.

Bottled. Pours dark, with medium head. Smells of alcohol and raisin. Tastes of raisin and burnt sugar. Medium body with a smooth finish. Decent beer.
