2.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
I was shivering in my shoes when I ordererd the mightly beer from our server at dinner last night. The powerful and ominous name and roaring bottle artistry was sure to make this one of the best beer experiences of my life!
I struggled to find anything on the nose past the mildest of malt. The mouth was thunderous to start with.....dominant malt and thick alchohol but then a sugary hold took over eventually falling flat on its face by mid-palate.
What a disapointment for a well-respected locally well-respected brewery.

Bottled. Pours dark, with medium head. Smells of alcohol and raisin. Tastes of raisin and burnt sugar. Medium body with a smooth finish. Decent beer.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pretty tame dopple out of UTAH. My buddy Brando really seems to like this one, and while it packed a nice buzz, im usually looking for that hotness and the ABV coming through intensely. Clear mahogany, darker though. Head is decent finger sized. Aroma is pleasent. Nutty, raisiny and full dark malt. Taste is really very pleasent and mild with cinnamon and prune notes.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
First, thanks to my brother who brought this back for me on his trip out to the mid-West. Pretty tough to come by any beers made in Utah. This dopplebock pours out a beautfiul mahogany brown body with a smaller 1/2" off white head. Aroma is mostly light roasted malts and some alcohol...maybe a little sweetness. Flavor is the star of this show. Tobacco, light smoke, some roasted bitterness which off-sets the medium-high sweetness. Very earthy about mid-palate. Bitterness is very soft on the finish and the sweetness lingers a little bit. Not the greatest, but really nice.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a clear brown color with a thin beige head. Boiled vegetables are noticed in the aroma along some malt and caramel. Interesting flavor of malt and caramel, the boiled vegetables are also there, but less powerfull than in the aroma. The body is medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Interesting, but not devastating.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured clear brown with a one fingered head that dissipates quickly. The aroma was malty/grainy with no hops. Flavor was malty and sweet with no hops, very to style. Palate is average with carb to style. Overall a typical bock beer nothing great or special.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap @ BBF: Pours an amber color with white head. The nose is rich and full with lots of raisins, fig and cherry along with a gamut of dark caramels and light dried fruits. The flavor is balanced though with an earthy dry body and a light twang of hops in the tail. Nice doppelbock, unassuming from Utah!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle - Pours a fairly clear orange/amber color with smallish tan head. Aroma is somewhat floral, with rose water and honey up front, fair amount of light caramel and toasted malts, hints of mint, lemon zest, and tobacco. Flavor is malty, dry, with caramel and faint oak, lemon, earthy notes. Finish is just towards the sweet side of balanced. Overall this is pretty decent - not amazing, but not bad.
