This German-Style lager is a big beer. A very big very big beer. We think it will earn some "Big Love" from the folks in the Land of Zion. We predict once this beer is discovered "Utah will never be the same". We ask, as with all our products, you enjoy this brew with care and caution.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with douglas88 (thanks!). Poured a medium copperish color with a smaller sized off white head. Slightly hazy. Aromas of toasted caramel, some roast, toffee, and nuts. Tastes of caramel (lots), ligth chocolate, roast, and nuts. Alcohol content well hidden.

Bottle @ home picked up somewhere in New Mexico. I had a really godawful Doppelbock early, so I wasn’t really in the mood for this but what the hell. Pours a clear brown appearance with a tan head. A bit woody smoky, dark caramel, slightly nutty aroma. Rich nutty, light toffee, toasty malty, kind of grainy, herbal flavor that dries out a bunch on the finish. Ok.

A yeasty dark strong lager with noticeably unclean fermentation: metal, mold, higher alcohols, dark caramel malt, cola, plum and apple hooch, vegetables / canned corn / DMS. Solvent and oily alcohol on the palate. Sweet and chalky with a limp, watery body. Shamefully bad!

Bottle (marked 11/02/12) that I picked up Superbowl 2013 weekend in Las Vegas (kept refrigerated since then). Large amount of yeast sediment noticed at the bottom of the bottle. Pours with a very mild haze over a deep bronze hued body with a thin head, poor retention and mild lace. Aromas are of melanoidins, grape nuts and an odd fruitiness that I cannot place. Cornbread and light leather. Flavors are of oxidation, cardboard, raisins, medium strong malt. Lasting leather. Low bitterness but some lasting in the duration. A bit husky, light alcohol. Suntan lotion. Some munich like toasted malt notes. Full bodied, medium carbonation. Sweet beer with a clean/crisp finish. I’ll assume that the date on the bottle is a best by and not a brewed on...

Bottle at Freakin’ Frog in Las Vegas. The beer is a murky mahogany color with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, molasses and dark malt. Medium body with flavors of earthy malt, caramel and dark fruit. Faint hops in the background. The finish is sweet and malty with a ripe fruit aftertaste. Decent overall.

12oz bottle: Pours a clear deep copper amber with a stringy-lacing froth of white head. Has a lightly sweet toasted caramel malty nose with some rye character and light phenols. Starts with average fullness and well-dissolved carbonation with a light caramel and butterscotch sweetness giving way to a peppery hop bitterness, some doughy yeastiness and a drier warming finish. Could be a little smoother and hide its alcohol better, but a decent attempt at the style.

Bottle thanks to Dallas. Pours cola brown with off white head. Nose/taste of sweet malt, caramel, mixed grains and barley. Medium body.

Bottled, thanks to Eric! Poured clear iced tea brown with a short-lived cap of white head. The aroma was toasty with caramel and brown sugar at the forefront.. touch of beet sugar and alcohol warmth on the back. The flavor opened with sour darker fruit skins that came out of nowhere.. aged, dry caramel carried the middle and really dried out the palate.. grainy brown sugar and leafy bitterness found the edges.. finished short, but warm and spicy, leaving peppery alcohol on the lips. Medium-bodied and fleeting on the palate. very dry.. some nice components in there, but it struck me as powerfully average overall.

Tap at the Hey Merchant, Houston, 21/05/13. Mahogony brown with a medium light tan head which retains well. Nose is dark toffee, dark fruit, malty, sugars, light boozey notes. Taste comprises dark toffee, a little booze, dates, raisens, dark malts, toasted brown bread. Full bodied, fine carbonation, sweet boozey finish with a pinch of spice. A good take on the style !
