3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Amber pour. Aroma is very sweet with notes of caramel, sark fruits and spices. Flavor isnt what I expected to be honest. Sweet and malty with a heavy dose of caramel. Not bad, but not what it could of been.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at Freakin’ Frog in Las Vegas. The beer is a murky mahogany color with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, molasses and dark malt. Medium body with flavors of earthy malt, caramel and dark fruit. Faint hops in the background. The finish is sweet and malty with a ripe fruit aftertaste. Decent overall.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz bottle. Born on: 03/24/11.
It pours a lighter reddish brown with a foamy off-white head that quickly dissipates with no lacing.
Smell is weaker and more like a brown ale than a doppelbock.
The flavor is also more reminiscent of an ale than a lager. It is roasty and chocolatey, far too much to be considered a doppebock.
It is an okay american dark lager.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle... March 08 Tampa Bay Tasting... Clear, dark copper lager with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Fantastic, never-ending retention. Lactic, vinous nose with prominent, awkward, berry essences. Full-bodied and creamy with ticklish carbonation. Sweet, fruity flavor delivers a truckload of unidentified berries with plenty of alcohol warmth and bitterness. Moderately bitter, boozy finish. Strange brew... maybe past its prime.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle @ home picked up somewhere in New Mexico. I had a really godawful Doppelbock early, so I wasn’t really in the mood for this but what the hell. Pours a clear brown appearance with a tan head. A bit woody smoky, dark caramel, slightly nutty aroma. Rich nutty, light toffee, toasty malty, kind of grainy, herbal flavor that dries out a bunch on the finish. Ok.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle, from my wonderful family during a recent road-trip of theirs. Wonderful, clear red/amber color, with some fine floating sediment visible. Very minimal head, yet it leaves a few dots of lacing. Creamy, caramel, mild licorice, dark fruit, some chocolate, alcohol notes. Classic doppelbock aroma, a style I appreciate so much that it is probably in my top 3 (alongside the Black IPA and IIPA, perhaps). Palate has a bit of an acidic texture to it, and the carbonation seems a tiny bit too harsh, but the aftertaste is sublime. I like these brews. It’s difficult to disappoint me with a doppelbock, this brew is no exception. A satisfactory execution of the style.
