COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wasatch Winterfest is a rich amber ale with caramel malt flavors and a large hop presence. Brewed with the finest Northwestern pale and caramel malts then generously hopped with Columbus and Amarillo hops. Crafted in the spirit and style of the Sierra Nevada Celebration. Inspiration? "This new seasonal was brewed to warm you through the cold winter months! Our Winterfest Ale makes a wonderful compliment to an epic day on the mountain, and the perfect companion around the fire. It’s our toast to Utah."

Bottle at Wasatch Brew Pub. For my money, this and Uinta Anniversary Barleywine are the best Utah has to offer. Medium- to dark-brown color with tan head. Hoppy and spicy aroma. Flavor is caramel malt, some roastiness, spices, coffee, maple, and hops on the finish. Very tasty and satisfying.

Bottle. Pours a clear brown with a small head. Aroma of citrus hops and grapefruit. Flavor is rather hoppy but blends nicely with sweet caramel malt. Very nice, more like an IPA than an ASA or a winter ale for that matter. Yum! 8/4/8/4/15 (3.9/5)

A new brew that pours with a delicious brown hue and a good head that isn’t self conscious leaving a pancake type spatter to linger. Aromas of wet coffee bean, mildly roasted nuts, and maple. The nectar weight on this puppy is rather full and inviting with a nice fiber soft texture. Coffee bean and cocoa make a face plant with some cake bread and nuts. The brew finishes long. Good stuff.

Poured Poured a crystal clear deep copper color with an off-white head. Fruity and nutty malt with a citrus hop aroma. Malty flavor with toasty notes. Hoppy grapefruit finish and a long dry hop bitterness. Light-medium bodied. Very clean. Nice beer.

12 oz bottle, again from my favorite beer babe blindeyedbetty, who is far too generous. Clear dark amber with a big tan head that dissipates rapidly. Nose is fantastic - a bouquet of hops, cirtusy and lightly earthy, backed up by some solid caramel. Nice drippy lace. Excellent mouthfeel, smooth and soft, which offsets the citrus well. Sweet flavors of grapefruit and caramel, nice herbal bite. This. Is. GOOD.

12 oz bottle **Summary** - A gift from Santa this year I cracked this open to celebrate the holidays. After sampling it I look forward to trying the rest of the Utah beers that were in the package. For a state that is not known for its beer they seem to make some interesting stuff. **Aroma / Appearance** - A one finger eggshell rested delicately above a blood red fluid body. Minimal lacing was to be expected from this midrange ABV release. The smell of warm malts and hops was a change from the spiciness of other Christmas ales. Like a young barleywine it invites more attention. **Flavor / Palate** - Hoppy and oaky at the start it transitions to a sweet but light aftertaste. Deceptively smooth it was easy to enjoy. Above average and above my expectations the malty taste made this well worthwhile.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2011 Bottle from the Utah State Store, thanks Mikey. Pours a clear amber color with a medium tan head. The aroma is very nice; just heaps of hops in here, citrus flavors explode, some light caramel and spices also. The flavor is also great; initially bitter, grapefruit and other citrus-hop flavors, some light spices and a balanced is achieved by a strong and rich caramel malt. Slightly warm, but nowhere near boozy. Just excellent. What an excellent addition, thanks Wasatch Brewing. First bottle of the new season, some snow in the air so perfect timing: more banana and cloves than I remember, a fresh pine hop bouquet. Very nice.
