ClarkVV (3547), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Sep 7, 2005 On draught at the brewpub, 8/31/2005 with Duff. A transluscent copper-gold with some fiery, deep reddish-auburn tinges. Head is small and not terribly long retained. Aroma of sweet, caramelly malt, spicy noble hops, brown bread, honey, cinnamon and light fruits. Flavor is medium-full bodied of succulent caramel and toffee, some light raisins, cherries and dates. Hops are well-intertwined with the rest of the beer, giving a wonderful balance. Spicy, lightly floral and only moderately bitter. Graham crackers, dough and light herbal/grassiness. Carbonation is spot-on, breaking up the big body, slightly. Enough to give it a lightly effervescent feel and add to the drinkability. duff (5407), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Sep 2, 2005 Tap@Watch City, Waltham, Ma. I enjoyed this little number. Some nice toasty, nutty malt, with subtle hints of red berries. Soft, with some slight grassy, medium bitter hops in the finish, i was pleasantly surprised.
