ClarkVV (3547), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Feb 27, 2007 Draught pint at Watch City on 2/8/07 Dark gingerbread-auburn body has a much darker brown overtone. Beige head is small but modestly retained, leaving light lacing. Clarity is medium-high, with light carbonation in the liquid. Sugar cookies, gingerbread and vanilla-honey-butter creaminess are strong and soothing, but with the light spice tones, don’t prove to be oversweet or cloying. Light cinnamon breadiness, soft dough and playful dark fruitiness (plums, raisins, figs) all keep the mood light, while the vanilla creaminess grows more dominant until the finish, which is soft and supple. No alcohol noted. Some bits of plum, licorice and light berries perk up initially, but malt quickl interjects itself, giving more liquid bread-like sweet/softness. Cinnamon and gingerbread, but very, very moderated, balance the malt sweetness, and it ends on a vanilla cream and sweet toffee note. Dry yeast nuttiness, with very light fruit esters trailing off. Extremely soft texture, with low carbonation. But no syrupiness whatsoever. Very drinkable. No alcohol or flaws noted in this one. jcwattsrugger (3757), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Dec 30, 2006 on tap-pours a thin light tan head and dark copper/red color.
