Our intention was to produce an English Mild Ale to be dispensed with nitrogen. We borrowed hints form Mild, Cream, Bitter and Blonde Ale styles using a base of Pale Ale malt and adding some Ashbourne Mild malt and light caramel from Briess for color and body. Hopped with UK Fuggles and White labs English Ale yeast and served unfiltered. The finished product was almost the exact color of our copper that decorates much of the restaurant. Although, not origianlly intended to be called this, it seemed fitting.

On nitro at Water Street brew pub, pours a clear copper with a creamy white head, the aroma is heavily of sweet malt and the flavor is roasty and has a creamy finish, probably the best option you can find at Water Street.

On nitro-pour at the downtown Milwaukee brewpub location. Pours a clear golden amber colored brew with a nitro creamy light beige head that has excellent retention. Aroma of biscuity and caramel malt, hint of toffee, floral hops and some light yeast. Taste is light bodied, a tad watery with some faint caramel and floral hop flavors. Finish is smooth via nitro pour with very little bitterness. The nitro charge helped this light amber ale but could use a little more Fuggles to bring this more an English Pale Ale.

Tasted 8/15/10. Sampler from the Water Street Brewpub. Filtered with an orange golden hue. Off white head. Aromas of cereal grains and grassy hops. Smooth and medium bodied. Low effervescence and carbonation due to the nitrogen. Good bitterness. Good lacing on the glass. Clean and tasty. Straight forward palate and very refreshing! Well done!
