COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Previously brewed at DuBocq (Nov 2013)

Waterloo Tripel is brewed on huge amounts of pilsener malt. Aromatic Saazer and Spalter hops are added, but to no further extent than to give it a bitterness equal to a pilsener which gives more room to the beer’s sweetness. The beer is fermented with Du Bocq’s original yeast strain which is responsible for the delicate, spicy expression. After maturation and filtration the beer has a secondary fermentation in the bottle which causes its slight cloudiness.

Not much going on in this tripel. An aroma of citrus and alcohol and not much more to it.

Very malty and quite sweet. When drank cool nice and refreshing. At room temperature it’s a different story. The Malts startte become more prominent and it starts to feel off balance. Mild hoppy on the finish. Nice mouthfeel.

Alengrin (2463) - BELGIUM - NOV 5, 2014
Blonde version of Waterloo Double Dark 8°, with off-white head and colour of old gold, clear. Soapy and grassy aroma, pale malt sweetness, butter, honey, apple peel; smooth, slick palate, a bit resinous, malt sweet, applish, strong carbonation, grassy hops in the finish. Straightforward, tastes a bit ’cheap’.

RW80 (800) - Hoogeveen, NETHERLANDS - NOV 1, 2014
Bottle, 0.33l, Appearance: Hazy golden color with a medium sized (1,5 finger ) frothy white head. Leaving some lacing. Aroma: Yeast, fruity esters. Taste: Starts with light sweet grainy malt, follows by some fruits and ester tones and yeast in the finish. Medium body, dry texture and lively carbonation in palate. A typical Belgian Triple, but nothing there to differentiate except maybe for the lighter touch ? Still decent, but the brown one is better.

Not the best one, but still very drinkable...

75 cl bottle, 7.5%. Yellow color, almost clear, enormous expanding white head. Belgian yeast smell with pale malts and decent hops, but not thick or tasty as expected from a tripel, seems like a strong ale instead. Medium bodid, carbonated, extra dry finish. Unimpressive but quite ok.
