Previously brewed at DuBocq (Nov 2013)

Waterloo Tripel is brewed on huge amounts of pilsener malt. Aromatic Saazer and Spalter hops are added, but to no further extent than to give it a bitterness equal to a pilsener which gives more room to the beer’s sweetness. The beer is fermented with Du Bocq’s original yeast strain which is responsible for the delicate, spicy expression. After maturation and filtration the beer has a secondary fermentation in the bottle which causes its slight cloudiness.

Robe blonde reflets dorés, mousse moyennement persistante. Nez élégant entre malt, houblon et fruit, pointe de levure. Bouche à l’attaque crémeuse, de l’amertume, de la fraîcheur mais une longueur assez moyenne, finale fruitée. Une triple facile à boire.

Pours a clear pale golden color, topped with a decent white head. Lots of carbonation. Mild aroma, malty and slightly bready. Taste is sweet, bready with some fruity notes. Some alcohol present, finish is slightly sweet.

Tap@Delirium Cafe Taphouse bar. Bärnstensfärgad vätska med fluffigt vitt skum. Dofter av gröna örter och jäst. Ljuvligt len och rund smak med en skön pepprighet.

(Draught at Delirium Tap Bar, Brussels, 23 Oct 2014) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of tropical fruit, pineapple and candy sugar. Malty, fruity taste with tropical fruit, mango, pineapple and a certain grassy, spicy bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Well balanced and tasty, with lots of tropical fruit. Quite nice.

Grumlig guldig öl med vitt skum. Söt öl med mycket jäst i doft och smak, maltig, lätt fruktig, lite alkohol i smak. Inte dålig men ganska tråkig. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours clear golden with airy white head. Clear aroma of fruit, malt and caramel, with a touch of flowers and hops. Bitter, hoppy flavour with sweetish notes of caramel malt and fruit and herbal touches. Bitter and estery finish. Okay, decent but not extraordinary.

Not much going on in this tripel. An aroma of citrus and alcohol and not much more to it.
