COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Previously brewed at DuBocq (Nov 2013)

Waterloo Tripel is brewed on huge amounts of pilsener malt. Aromatic Saazer and Spalter hops are added, but to no further extent than to give it a bitterness equal to a pilsener which gives more room to the beer’s sweetness. The beer is fermented with Du Bocq’s original yeast strain which is responsible for the delicate, spicy expression. After maturation and filtration the beer has a secondary fermentation in the bottle which causes its slight cloudiness.

Bottle. Tasting session at Qbrick. From notes. Stewed peaches, honey, nori (dried seaweed), licorice, and cinnamon . Not bad at all, but some unusual flavors and a bit light for a tripel.

On tap at De Zotte, poured in a stone mug so no colour description. Airy white head. Aroma is sweet, light malty, hint of bread, metal, loads of sweet spices, aniseed, coreander. Flavour is likewise, quite sweet and spicy, light metallic bitter finish. Light-bodied, flat carbonation. Not very enjoyable.

33cl, bb 04-03-2014.
