COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Waterloo Tripel is brewed on huge amounts of pilsener malt. Aromatic Saazer and Spalter hops are added, but to no further extent than to give it a bitterness equal to a pilsener which gives more room to the beer’s sweetness. The beer is fermented with Du Bocq’s original yeast strain which is responsible for the delicate, spicy expression. After maturation and filtration the beer has a secondary fermentation in the bottle which causes its slight cloudiness.

Aroma um pouco incomum demais, porém uma cerveja razoavelmente satisfatória e extremamente encorpada.

Bottle. Pale amber and cloudy with a thin, resilient white head. Mild orange nose. Coriander on the taste and a familiar Belgian yeast flavour. Finishes clean. Very nice.

Slightly hazy golden body, white head. Aroma is nice yeast, noble hops and some sweet malt. Flavour has nice softness in it, medium bitterness. Soft and round mouthfeel.

Clear, medium golden body with a large, white, long-lived head, excellent lacing. Yeast, fruits, spices, herbs and dust on the nose. Medium sweet taste with a very light bitter finish. The flavours are a bit too dominated by a chalky yeastiness that leaves the palate dessert dry. And my teeth, oh, my teeth, it feels like they’re covered with chalk! In addition to the chalk, there are spices, herbs, mild resin, fruits, honey and faint alcohol. I love tripels so of course I like this one as well, but it’s not the most exciting one I’ve had. It lacks a bit on either the sweet or the bitter side, or preferably both.
[33 cl bottle, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo]

Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Fruity, a bit richer than the benchmark Duvel. Nice dry edge bordering on sourness. Apricots and lemons. Not exciting, burt very drinkable. Hazy gold, frim head.

Huge offwhite lasting head. Clear deep yellow body with ongoing carbonation. Delicate tropical fruity floral spicy aroma with coriander notes. Dry-sweet taste of tropical fruit and herbs with mealy, salty notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry-sweet herbal tropical fruit and candy aftertaste with mealy spicy notes. Nice, highly drinkable, but a little disharmonic and unfocused. (0.33l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika.)
