It’s a beautiful red mahogany color and the head is creamy. The aroma has sweetness and notes of malt and metal. The flavour has sweetness, notes of slightly sour malt, berries and fruit, and it ends on a slightly dry and sour note. french tickler (505), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada Jun 12, 2008 Shared with Pyrozoid

bhensonb (3009), Woodland, California, USA Jun 4, 2008 Tap at “La Brouette” on the Grand Place in Brussels (23 on the beer list; almost all good). Came in a properly labeled thistle glass. Sweet malty aroma (with a hint of sour?). Brown near black color with a good beige tan head. Starts fruity. Moves on to sweet roasted malt. A porter with fruit - no. A "new" Gunnness with fruit - no. Barring an occasional metal note it’s almost light and refreshing. Not at all sticky. That’s it - perhaps a McEwans with all that sticky sweetness removed. It’s quite dry in its way - but the bitter is rather mild. It really is refreshing. Very glad I had it. In memorium de Watneys or something like that. Breweries go away, but labels and recipes move to Stella Artois, or some huge conglomerate or other.
