3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Parket (521) - Bruges, BELGIUM - JUN 6, 2010
bottle, yellow colour with very nice white head. Smell: fruity, refreshing. Taste: fruity, malty, alcohol, oranges, yeasty. Very nice beer but not that good like the st bernardus tripel from the same brewery, which is a real topper. Very refreshing beer!
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 CanIHave4Beers (2000) - Des Moines, Iowa, USA - JUN 5, 2010
Pours a nice hazy blonde with a big, no... enormous mostly tight white head. This head is even bitter than what I’ve come to expect from St. Bernard Brouwerij. Of course this leaves lace, why wouldn’t it. The aroma is just right with a bit of honey, a bit of hay, and some cellar like mineral notes. A bit of alcohol works it’s way in there as well. The flavor is some lemon with some nice fruity & spicy yeastiness. There is a touch of sweetness but generally speaking the beer is fairly dry. The spiciness tends to dominate this beer mid glass but some banana is starting to show it’s self. The 7.5% abv is fairly apparent however that being said I’ve seen much lower gravity beers that express alcohol in a much harsher way.

Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark golden-amber color with lots of dark floaters and a huge yellow-white head that lingered. The aroma was sweet sugar, candied pear, bready-yeasty notes, tart and a touch spicy. The flavor was yeasty, tangy and sugary with notes of pear, apple and caramel. The finish was long and tangy with notes of apple, pear, yeast and caramel. Full bodied. Excellent.
