4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ekstedt (3624) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - APR 9, 2009
Bottle (75 cl, from 2002), shared with a friend at Bishops Arms, V. Hamngatan, Göteborg, Sweden. Deep hazy golden, medium creamy white head. Mellow madeira aroma with some wood and earthy notes. Meidum bodied and soft. Well balanced with a dry finish. Very nice. Would like to try it fresh as well.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 MoDog (927) - Griffith, Indiana, USA - MAR 26, 2009
Poured from an 11.2oz bottle (dated 10 01 11) and served in a tulip. This tripel poured a hazy, pale golden with lots of particles and a creamy, two-finger thick head of off-white foam. Excellent retention and lacing. The aroma included honey, graham cracker, orange peel, and some bready yeast. The flavor had chewy pale malt, light candi sugar, apricot, honey, and bread dough. A bit dull, but still decent. Medium-bodied with a moderate amount of prickly carbonation. Well made in all phases but flavor...where it seemed to be a bit lacking and lifeless.

Dry wood, some white fruits. Murky yellow brown from all of the yeast on the bottom of the bottle, stark white fluffy head. More dry wood on the palate, little bright sourness, faint sting of alcohol on the middle of my tongue. creamy finish, easy to drink, very tasty.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 talon1117 (1011) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAR 3, 2009
Pours a murky, coppery-golden color with notable sediment and a gusher of a head which is massive, rocky, very creamy, and white; once it settles a lasting, creamy, frothy layer remains and leaves lots of Belgian lace. Nose is full of yeast with lots of doughy notes and some banana esters, sweet light candi sugar and honey, faint herbal bitterness, faint lemon, and faint peppery phenols. A slight warmth notes as well and only at 7.5%. Flavor is similar with similar warmth, very sweet with lots of light candi sugar, honey, and sweet breads from the yeast; yeast also brings light esters and bitterness is only noted at the tail end. Palate is mildly warm, moderately full, nearly lively, chewy, and lightly drying. Finishes lightly warm with a bit of pepper, faint herbal bitterness, and lingering sweet yeast notes and a touch of lemon. A very sweet Golden Belgian with lots of yeast and a warm undertone. It’s borderline whether I think this one is even a tripel but wither way it is pretty nice. Palate is a perfect match for the beer.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ha1ag (609) - Maastricht, NETHERLANDS - FEB 18, 2009
Bottled at Take One in Mestreech. Nice murky amber color, small head, almost no lacing. Fruity nose, Aroma has yeast, and sour fruits. Carbonation is a bit too high for a tripel but very pleasant. Sour aftertaste with some acidic hints.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Slayer85 (862) - Firenze, ITALY - FEB 9, 2009
750 ml bottle. A hazy deep golden beer with a huge, creamy and persistent white head. The aroma is quite powerful and malty. There are light hoppy notes, a good fruitiness (tropical fruits), some bubblegum and spices. Enjoyable aroma. The flavour has a medium sweetness and a light acidity. Quite well balanced, fruity, malty and not overspiced. Medium body and not much more, lively carbonation, long finish with almost medium bitterness. I find this more refines and complex than St. Bernardus Tripel. Not mindblowing, but very enjoyable.
