Commercial Description:
The aroma of this beer is agreeably gentle and is carried by a discreet bitterness while the balance between the malt and hops relies on fruity accents and a lightly fresh aftertaste.

Bottle, Pineapple-yeast aroma, zero head, cloudy grapefruit colour, wonderful toffee-nut-coffee flavour with a shortfinish, thanks Irishboy for this gem!

Pours a cloudy gold with a off white head that starts falling fast. Decent lacing on the way down too. Nose is sweet and a bit yeasty. Typical stuff, but just right I think. Flavor is great. Slight sweetness with a spice that bites the tip of your tongue. The sweetness stays mild and is only joined by a yeasty influence, and never overshadowed. Really a smooth mix of brewing mastery I think. A lot of carbonation on the feel. It might border on being a bit much, but I think it still feels nice on the tongue. Masterfully created and continually drinkable. An amazing brew that is taking the position of one of my favorite tripels. More old school, with nothing schnazzy or wild about it, it’s a smooth and even production and another St. Bernardus piece of art.

Pours a cloudy burnt orange color with a big, fluffy white head. Nice looking. Smells of thick syrupy malts, molasses, orange citrus, and mild cpice. Sweet smelling. The taste is very sweet as well, huge malt presence is right in your face. Alot of molasses and maybe some caramel flavors cover the palate. The citrus is there, but overwhelmed by malts. I liked the flavor, wasnt a typical boring abbey tripel. Solid effort.

Bottle... Hazy, deep golden ale with a mid-sized, fluffy, white head. Fantastic, creamy retention. Breadsy, fruity nose with minimal to no spicy phenols. Sweet, subtle flavor of sugar cookie, biscuit and wildflower honey with suitable bitterness. Medium to full-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Delicately sweet, fruity, breadsy finish.

I’m not sure if this bottle was a bit old, but it was to dark malty for my taste in tripels. I still enjoyed the beer, it just had a lot of dark fruit and rich caramel flavors that are uncommon in tripels. Spicy finish, just without much crispness, the lack of a dry finish made this feel rather heavy on the palate. Still overall a nice beer, but disapointed in its "tripelness".

A Mes rate: Bottle at Lowlander. Pale amber with a well behaved white head. Very yeasty aroma with slight hops and some baby sick. Honestly. Quite sweet and malty in the flavour for a tripel. Some sickly toffee notes too. Dryish finish.

Bottle. Hazy golden colour with a small large white head. Aroma and taste of malts, fruits and spices. Good trippel.

Pours hazy dark yellow with lots of small floating yeast and a thin head. It has a startlingly sour citrus and banana aroma. The flavor is not as sour as the aroma suggests. The malt and yeast flavors combine pretty well with the fruit notes. I couldn’t stop thinking bananas for some reason. It’s good, but in my opinion not as good as the St. Bernardus Tripel. It just seems to be lacking something that their other Tripel nails.
