COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The aroma of this beer is agreeably gentle and is carried by a discreet bitterness while the balance between the malt and hops relies on fruity accents and a lightly fresh aftertaste.

11.2 oz. bottle. Best before 1/6/07. Poured murky brown with fizzy head that left a mild lace. Malty and sweet. This beer has none of the citrus qualities others have described. Very smooth and easy drinking. I’ve found that the aging this beer has undergone makes it resemble a belgian strong ale.

pours a clear gold with full white head, light yeast presence in aroma. bannana yeast in front to middle with mild finish, crisp back in the palate, somewhat spritzy mouthfeel. Pretty good.

A great beer by St. Bernardus. Confused as to why this is rated so low... Mine is aged three years so perhaps it adds a bit to the flavor but this beer is world class. Whats with the viruses on this site?

Pours a merky golden color with a bubblie white head. Aroma of yeast and a hint of spice. Taste, lots of carbonation. Lots of spice and citrus. I love St. Bernardus but this was not up to expectation for me.

750ml bottle. Poured hazy golden yellow in color with a thin off white head that left little lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, bread, orange citrus, honey, and some spices. Tastes of bready yeast, spices, sweet malts, honey and some light citrus. Its balanced well, but it didn’t fall in love with this one.

Bottle from By the Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured a deep golden-mustard-orange body with a frothy thick white blanket head. Nose of spicy peppers, yeastiness, and honey. Complex and bountiful palate. Prickly mouthfeel with a lot going on on the tongue. Bready, sweet, gritty, yeasty, a little cloying, but not too bad.

Best Before: 21 06 10. Appearance: Pours a bright, clear, golden body with a huge, foamy, white head. Smell: Aroma smelling of spicy hops, lightly bready malts, orange blossom honey, and cracked black pepper. Taste: Lightly bready malts sweetened with honey and light caramel sauce. Spicy hops with a medium bitterness. Touch of peach fruitiness. Dash of hop spices. There’s a little ’pop’ of acidity. Odd hint of licorice comes and goes. This is followed by a bit of sourness. And this is followed by some alcohol warmth as you’re led into the sweetish finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Sticky mouthfeel. Medium-high carbonation. Drinkability: I rather enjoyed it. A very nice tripel, a style, I’ll admit, I can be a bit fussy towards. It’s got the usual tripel traits, but it’s like someone blended in a sweeter, bready Vienna lager into it. There, I had to get that off my chest. And you know what? It felt good. It’s good to be honest.

12oz bottle. Smooth nose of citrus and yeast with caramel and vanilla. Pours a deep hazy gold with a a thick foamy head. Flavor is very yeasty with notes of bread, spicy hops and a strong malt backbone. Much better balanced than most tripels, a really tasty brew.
