COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The aroma of this beer is agreeably gentle and is carried by a discreet bitterness while the balance between the malt and hops relies on fruity accents and a lightly fresh aftertaste.

Deep amber, small head. Apple, peach, and almonds jump most quickly out of the glass, backed up by a sweet maltiness and a hint of noble hops. Soft carbonation. Very sweet taste - fruity and creamy, with almond and cherry. Nutty almond finish.

Tasted 4/5/08. 330ml bottle. Hazy with a bright golden hue. More heady. Soapy aromas. Nice crisp nose. Medium to full bodied with bready caramel flavors. Tart and estery. Chalky with more of a yeast component.

Bottle. Pours cloudy golden orange with nice white head. Sour apple aroma, nice sour taste with effervescent finish. Pleasing.

Part of a St. Bernardus mix pack. I’ve rarely seen such a lively, bubbling beer as the Watou Tripel. While it was no means overfrothy, the head was pleasantly excited to be in my glass. The hazy, tawny gold color was as bright as the initial bubbles, but quickly darkened and turned almost cloudy. Apples and pears marked the nose, with a dainty sweetness and mellow malts underneath. This Tripel began with a tender flow of warmth and a tingle of fruit. Progressively, the whispers of pear became fierce trumpets, a cascading fruitiness that enveloped my tongue in a gentle embrace. I’ve never before seen such fullness from a lighter beer like this, one that lingers in just the right places without overstaying its welcome. This beer is perfect for a spring sip or even with a dessert, and I’d recommend it over anything else in the style I’ve tried before.

This is part of the St. Bernardus mixed 6 pack I purchased. Pours a cloudy, murky golden color. Nice amount of head and lacing. Faint fruity, citrus aroma. Sweet and tangy citrus flavor with a quick alcohol rush. Touch of malts, vanilla and a grainy yeast note. A little tart. It’s pretty easy drinking and refreshing. Overall I’d give it a slightly above average overall mark but that’s it. I’d have it again but for the price I’m sure I can find better.

Bottle. Hazy body. White head. Aroma is complex. It´s yeasty and hopy. Also little peppry and flowery. The mouthfeel is nice, smooth and fresh.

nose has hints of fruitiness. color is cloudy apricot, off white head. citric, hoppy taste, surprisingly, not as fruity as the nose hints. i found the finish to be fruity, and surprisingly spritzy. a pretty entertaining entry of a style i don’t admire.

I was somewhat disappointed with this beer. Next time I’ll try it even warmer than recommended but with a decent chill I found it a bit harsh with a metallic finish. Overall a fairly light tripel best suited for a mellow afternoon or evening. I’ll stick to the St Bernardus.
