Commercial Description:
The aroma of this beer is agreeably gentle and is carried by a discreet bitterness while the balance between the malt and hops relies on fruity accents and a lightly fresh aftertaste.

The bitterness is present but could be accentuated. Taste doesn’t linger as it should. Very drinkable but not perfected.

Lucky to find this bottle at Clichy’s Tavern in the Montemarte neighborhood of Paris. Pours a rich orangish brown with a mighty egg nog head. Aroma is as it should be with fruit malt, spices, banana esters, along with dirt and dust (belgian yeast). Medium bodied beer, if not a little thin. Blesses the tongue with yeast, orange, apple, grape, cardamom and cinnamon. Tasty beer. Finish is wonderfully drying from the hops and ABV. Delicious.

Pours hazy copper / orange with lots of carbonation and a frothy white head. The aroma has white grapes, light fruits, light banana, sweet malt and light earthiness. Medium body that is fairly slick with lots of semi-sharp carbonation that doesn’t interfer with the flavors though. The flavor starts with light fruit and banana with sweet pils-like malt and pepper and other spices. The finish is sweet and adds lushness to the existing flavors although the spices are no longer apparent. Not my favorite of the style, but still a solid tripel.

Slightly hazy golden pour with a foamy 1-finger white head. Yeasty, pilsner like aroma. Metallic butterscotch taste.

The aroma has yeast, maple syrup, light fruit, and malt. The appearance is blond with a light orange hue. The flavor is like the aroma with much emphasis on the maple syrup. The palate is much thinner than it should be. Overall it’s a very interesting beer in the taste department but the texture is like water.

Foggy orange, gold body, thin white head. Aroma is cinnamon, nutmeg, grapefruit, yeasty with a pleasant hop background. Taste has the initial yeastiness and spices up front, with light alcohol warming.

750ml -2005 - shared by atpayne 5/25/07 - Aroma is bready yeast, lemon and alcohol. Pours cloudy yellow with a medium head and good lacing. Flavor matches aroma with a nice peppery finish. Palate is smooth and creamy. Something about this mellower version struck me as a lot tastier.

RERATE - original rating 7/4/6/4/15=3.6 from 12/15/2006 - 330ml - 010607 on bottle - Aroma is sour bread dough, lemon, spice and alcohol. Initial pour was gold until I dumped most of the yeast which turned it a muddy brown. Big fluffy head and great lacing. Flavor matches aroma. Palate is creamy and smooth with a touch of tartness. Not a bad tripel and worth a try.

Bottled(330ml). -Hazy amber/orange coloured, medium sized white head, dusty fruity nose. Aroma is sweet malty, slight alcoholic, faint orange vitamins and just a tiny touch of yeast. So far the worst Sint Bernardus beer.
