3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ansset13 (127) - Wilmington, North Carolina, USA - MAR 4, 2008
UPDATED: MAY 10, 2008 The pour is an attractive cloudy golden hue, with a decent sized and lasting white head. The nose is light with dominant hints of cinnamon honey and citrus fruits. The flavor is very much the same making this a great refreshing beer after a long hot day of anything.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 WeeHeavySD (3341) - San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA - MAR 2, 2008
5th Rating from 3rd Annual Woodshop tasting in Temple City, CA. 3/1/08. One hell of a day put on by Cquiroga, thanks for a killer day Chris. Also spent the day there with bikesanbeer, my girlfriend Cyn, wetherel, JohnC, DenverLogan, dirty_martini, jasparg, DrBil, IPAFiend, awaisanen and many others, this was one crazy day. 12 oz bottle, that apparently can’t get properly imported in California, so I’m glad I could try it. Pours gold yellow with a bubbly white head. Nose is sweet and yeasty. Taste is Sweet and light and pretty good.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Brigadier (1837) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - FEB 26, 2008
12 oz bottle
I have been sitting on this for a while now. A cold winter evening seemed as good a time as any to crack it open so after getting the fire crackling it was poured into my St Bernardus goblet. Overall it wasn’t bad but neither was it outstanding. This is one of those goto beers that you try when you want to ground yourself from the elite options.
Aroma / Appearance - A short lived head soon cascaded into the semi transparent orange body beneath. The fluid body was a little thinner than I had imagined but still lively. The spiciness of the aroma caught me offguard in a good way. Cinnamon, cloves and chocolate dipped orange with a blend of caramel spun together into a cohesive dense experience. The total effect was a little like spiced apple cider warmed over a stove.
Flavor / Palate - The first sip filled the mouth with oranges and cinnamon. Caramel and brown sugar come next. The final touch is a moist tartness. It could be the age of my bottle but I was expecting a little bit more. It falls somewhere between sessionable and sipping which is odd; at 7.5% I would have thought there might be a litte more of an alcoholic kick. It would be a nice beer for the times when you don’t want something thick that will knock you out immediately.

UPDATED: FEB 29, 2008 One word...amazing. It was the flavor that really did it for me. It tasted of dark fruit and cherries, but with a lighter color for a triple. When it comes to flavor, this one really appeals to me. It also had a notably soft mouth feel about it.

bottle. Pours hazy, honey in color. Big white frothy head. Aroma is sweet bread, lemony yeasts. Flavor is an acidic sweet lemon, sweet bready malts, a nice bitter mid-bite. This is a tasty beer. Thanks to thebelgianaleshop.com for sending this complimentary.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Tripplebrew (714) - Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA - FEB 22, 2008
Pours a hazy lemon honey with thick off white head. Aroma is yeast, lemon and bread. Flavor is more yeasty with a slight bitter finish more than sweet. Definitely not the hints of banana and cloves that are in other triples. Decent but not my favorite, although better than others that I have had.

Acidic aroma, spicy banana bread and sweet orange peel. Dark cloudy yellow, bubbly thick head, lots of sediment. Mm, caramel and hearty whole wheat bread, lovely sourness in the finish. Well balance from sweet to sour great smooth full body, from the tip to the back of my tongue. Delightful.
