WhiteSoxFan (152), USA Sep 14, 2006 33 cl. bottle from Total Beverage? 04 06 07 on the bottle. Drank on 8/5/06. Bottle conditioned. Would be clear probably, but there are a TON of floaties - I need to be more careful with the Belgians. Kind of dark for a Tripel - copper. Big 1.5" bubbly white head. Big, thick layer of foam sticks around. Aroma - Spicey, clovey, definitely yeasty. Cider-like character, almost like white wine. Flavor - High up front bitterness. Sweet on the tongue along with some bitterness. Sort of white wine-like in the finish along with some cloves, spice, and some yeast character. Sweet and dry. Palate - light to medium, fairly high carb. Overall - Good tripel, but different than a lot I’ve had. A little darker than most. Not really any banana in the nose or flavor. Dominated by sweetness with a little almost tartness to balance it. Don’t remember what I paid, but for the price of a typical belgian I’d probably buy something else. Jerre (1755), Waregem, Belgium Sep 4, 2006 Deep orange in colour with a large cream coloured head. Aroma was of yeast, oranges, spices and some lemon. Flavour was of yeast up front, citrus, black pepper. Medium creamy body, high carbonation. Finishes spicy and long. Nice tripel. gputty (456), Virgina Beach, Virginia, USA Sep 3, 2006 From bottle. Dirty orange pour with thick tan head. Nose is yeast and light fruits. Flavor is dry, with alcohol in the finish. Pretty good. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Sep 3, 2006 11.2 bottle dated 150908 at The Bier Garden, Portsmouth, VA. Murky, dirty yellow with a creamy off white head. Spicy, yeasty fruit nose. Fairly dry, spicy tropical fruit flavor. Loved it! Glouglouburp (2782), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 20, 2006 Updated: Nov 12, 2007Cloudy blonde with a small but long lasting white head. Faint lemony and basic spices aroma. Taste is very yeasty with some fruity flavours (pineapple-ish). Leaves a pleasant salty dry mouthfeel (onion salt?). Side by side with a Fin Du Monde (classic of the genre) this one lacked the bite and intensity of the FDM but made up for it with a more complex yeast character. I called it a draw. Having these two gorgeous blondes at the same time is unfortunately these days the closest I can get to a threesome. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 14, 2006 Bottle sampled with Beerded one. pours copper, with a one finger thick fizzy lasting white head. Aroma of fruit, citrus, spices, slight hops also to the nose. The flavor is fruity, carbonated, citrus, smooth, and yeast. Good body, good brew. gollitogarcia (11), Texas, USA Aug 12, 2006 Have always been a fan of the Belgian Ale. This particular brew has a medium sweetness with a slightly bitter afternote. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Aug 9, 2006 From a 750 ml. caged cork bottle with a blurb and serving information on the back of bottle, a best before date that I can’t find, sampled at a cooler cellar temperature in a goblet.
Poured a hazy tripel golden with a foamy white head that settled into a thin sudsy lacing, small amount of ringed sticking.
Aromas of dusty, dry yeast, apples, mild spices, honey and sweet malts, a light tropical fruitiness and spicy hops.
Good carbonation and a crisp, dry and smooth lightish medium bodied mouthfeel.
Delicious tasting, apples and pears from the yeastiness, candied sugar, honey bread malts, soft bitterness from the spicy hops, bananas and tropical fruits in the middle, the alcohol is well masked and provides a nice warmth in the palate, and dry, sweet fruity and malty finish, good tripel drinkability.
A really nice Belgian tripel, well worth trying.
