Jblauvs (530), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jul 21, 2009 hazy golden pour, slight offwhite head. Aroma is light fruitiness, some breadiness, a bit of banana, orange peel, marmalade, honeydew. flavors of spice, apricot, yeast, orange peel, Finish is sweet then changes to a pleasant burnt flavor. Pleasant craftycarl21 (510), South Hero, Vermont, USA Jul 21, 2009 Murky dark gold pour with a small white head. Aroma is quite fruity, with lots of peach and nectar, as well as a definite yeast character. Flavor of light fruit, whole wheat, yeast, and a bit of a burnt aftertaste. Palate is OK, but nothing special- straightforward mouthfeel. Good brew, but not outstanding. porterhouse (1148), Alna, Maine, USA Jun 22, 2009 (330 ml bottle (best before 6/21/10) from McKean and Charles) Pours hazy goldish amber with one finger of slightly lumpy soft-looking off-white head that is pretty well-retained. Aroma of caramel, pepper, light fruit and yeast. Mouthfeel is soft, medium-full and quite nice. Very well-defined and well-retained curtains of lacing. Flavor of caramel, light fruit, pepper and yeast. Nice light smokey quality as well. Some hints of alcohol presence. Pretty tasty but seems to fall slightly short. A nice base of flavor, it just could be a little denser. Still a pretty nice tripel. fredandboboflo (1395), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 13, 2009 Bottle. Aroma of flowers, bread, light fruits, yellow-orange fruits, gentle blanket of spice, mild doughy yeast. Flavor continues to be wonderfully balanced with complex waves of flowers, spice, and bread coming over the tongue, all the while with a strong yellow-orange, melon-flesh, robust fruitiness. But then it’s the bread again that’s robust. Then the spice-floral combination works its magic. Superbly drinkable, full-bodied, crisp, but almost juicy too. Just a magnificently well-rounded beer, impressed the hell out of me. LilBeerDoctor (1480), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 12, 2009 Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with a small ring of white head. Aroma of sweet fruits (apple, pear, fig), applesauce, light spices. Flavor is yeasty/bready initial with apple skins and light fruits in the finish. Palate is a touch heavy, but overall this is a nice tripel with easy drinking. Enjoyable!
8/4/8/4/15 (3.9/5) scoth (266), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA May 7, 2009 Pours chunky amber, with a one-and-a-half finger white head, very good lacing. Fragrant apple, peaches, orange, banana, caramel and spice. Medium, tart and crisp body, strong carbonation. The taste is sour apple, caramel, banana, and lemon. Aftertaste is slightly tart, with a hint of bitterness. Well balanced. gabbama (115), Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, USA Apr 16, 2009 Golden color, cloudy, fluffy white head. Sweet fruity aroma with some notes of spice and orange. Pale malt flavor with spice and a hint of light fruit. Hops and spice on the finish. Lots of fine, spritzy carbonation. BrianHagmeier (257), Coralville, Iowa, USA Apr 12, 2009 To sweet and leaves a diet pop like after taste. Its also short on flavor in general or the higher alcohol is washing out everything. Not for me.
