Has a sharp and pungent nose of yeast, cloves, coriander seed, alcohol, and some sharp perfumy floral scents. Fairly sweet, moderately thick up front. Mildly pungent, mildly sharp. Fairly good overall, handles the dryness well, but is too thick and has too much of a spoiled fruit flavor. Ungstrup (15099), Frederiksberg, Denmark

The aroma is yeasty combined with notes of oranges. The flavor is sweet yeasty again combined with oranges, but also with wood. Nice body, nice triple. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 21, 2006 Hazy golden body with a light white head. Aroma is of yeast and sweet fruits. Nice body, heavy carbonation, light fruits, yeast and some minimal hops. Tangy ending that has hints of mangos. Very nice addition to the St. Bernardus line-up. The pour is ruddy dark gold with a giant white head that sounds like Alka-Seltzer. The aroma is bready malt, some honey, pear, citrus, amd hops. The flavor is citric, floral ,spicy, and hoppy up front, woth the malt bill flowing up the back door. The palate is medium, and it gets a bit drier and more hoppy as it warms. Very complex. entertheiceman (242), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 4, 2006 Deep copper and gold color with a white head and only slight lacing. Spicy cake aroma, some coriander and snise unless I’m mistaken. Chewy mouthfeel but slightly off kilter where you the beer goes back and forth between a thicker and thinner cosistency. Initially bitter flavor that turns malty sweet with a delicious lingering finish. St. Bernardus really knows how to brew a great beer I am continually impressed by their craftsmanship. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 28, 2006 Tasting from a generous pour at a St. Bernardus sampling at Bottleworks in Seattle. Medium gold, decent head. Bready aroma. Flavor was also quite bready, with a hint of orange peel and some honey sweetness. Slight bitter clove finish. Not bad by any means, but a bit more loaf than I would have liked. OldMrCrow (1187), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 28, 2006 Pours a hazy orange with a nice white and tons of dark floaty matter.
The nose is orange and honey and (unfortunately) a hint of acid reflux; the flavor is a pleasant blend of caramel and spicy belgian yeast and citrus juice and orange peel hops on the finish.
Not bad at all - a very drinkable tripel even if (or perhaps precisely because) it comes out somewhat on the light side for the style.
